Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Sbrochi.
Marina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It’s interesting how life takes you on a journey. After a very friendly, but still sad divorce, I found myself single and trying to do things differently. I wrote a book called Stop Looking for a Husband: Find the Love of Your Life. I won an IPPY award for it! I starting being a regular relationship expert on TV and with my articles on GalTime.
From there, I noticed that not everyone had a nice divorce….so after years of witnessing the damage it does to children, I began writing positive divorce advice for The Huff Post. When one of my articles called, The Last Effects of Talking Nasty About Your Ex went viral, I received a ton of emails! From there, I had my next book, Nasty Divorce: A Kid’s Eye View.
In 2014, I enrolled in graduate school to get a Masters in Professional Counseling. Near the end of my training, I attended Hypnosis Training at The Milton Erickson Foundation in Phoenix. I found my passion. I had been using hypnosis for over 20 years and wanted to help others with this amazing technique.
At this time, I had the idea to add sound to my hypnosis and purchased some quartz crystal singing bowls and a gong. I had been going to a place called Self Unbound (OMG check them out!) and it was life-changing. I asked them if I could do an event with a 30 minute carefully crafted hypnotic imagery meditation and 30 minutes of sound. It was so well received, I began to do these events at other places in Dallas. As Dallas began really noticing the benefits of sound and meditation, more opportunities arose. I held events at The Yoga Movement, Balancing Energy and the Health Collective.
I have a regular Friday Night Intuitive Sound Bath at The Refuge Meditation Studio. Sunday night sound bath at WeYogi’s in Las Colinas. Tuesday nights and Wednesday afternoons at V12 and soon to have events and the almost open TruFusion in Dallas.
I’m also a trauma therapist at Positive Outlook Counseling in Dallas. We are up at Bent Tree in a beautiful location in North Dallas. I utilize Hypnosis, specifically the Rewind Technique for trauma. Many people with trauma or phobias have been treated using approaches which drag them back through the experience again; a highly unpleasant thing to have to do. This does not happen with the Rewind, and I do not in fact even need to know the details of what happened to you. I also use a peer-reviewed technique called Revisioning that works with the mirror neurons in your brain to process complex grief, trauma, suicide ideation.
I’m speaking at a conference on June 21 in Texarkana on alternatives to talk therapy about Sound.
I have a podcast called ALLWays Another Way. I have 72 episodes of content in the mind/body/spirit space. I talk to game changers and out of the box thinkers. ALLWays Another Way has been my motto for years. I believe there is always hope and always another way to do things. All Things. All Ways. Hence, ALLWays Another Way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road is never smooth. (not for me at least!) It has hills and bumps and mountains to climb and nice downhill runs. I have always been a “different” person. Weirdo from kid to adult. I got into a lot of bad things in my teenage years and my fair share of bad decisions all throughout my 20’s and 30’s.
I went through a divorce in 2008 and lost quite a few friends. I had to start over meeting new people and living a different lifestyle. Now divorced a second time…I dealt with all the shame that comes from two failed marriages. I was 50% of those. I had to look at what my part was in all of it. Face what I needed to work on. Finally understood that my story doesn’t have to look like anyone else.
The last four years were extremely stressful. Stress took down my health. Breast Implant Illness (had those removed!) Autoimmune issues, cardiac issues and cortisol running through my body at all times. Something needed to change.
I had to have the courage to leave the security of the past ten years and start over.
I began to look at my life as an adventure with twists and turns. I realized that I have the ability to write a new chapter any time I want. Truly living always another way.
Please tell us about Positive Outlook Counseling.
Positive Outlook Counseling is where I’m a trauma therapist. I love helping others find within themselves healing. There is always healing from trauma. There is always hope.
My sound classes and events are totally magical. Everyone has their own experience and the community is so inviting. Sound meditations are something you have to experience for yourself to really feel what happens. There is more and more solid research on the benefits of sound therapy. Stress reduction and better sleep are what people notice the most. Message me anytime for a free class! There are many wonderful sound practitioners in Dallas. Each one of us has a different style. Like musicians. I add hypnotic guided imagery as well as tuning forks and a crystal pyramid (hovering over each person) to my classes.
ALLWays Another Way Podcast. I’m talking about things that are out of the box. Psilocybin for Depression. Yoga for rheumatoid arthritis, the Lucia no 3 Hypnogogic Light, cupping and acupuncture, crystals, astrology, death doula and so many more! I also bring a voice to hush issues like domestic violence and verbal abuse.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Oh my. Cut out alcohol, what a waste of so many years. Selectively choose my crowd. Energy is SO IMPORTANT!!
I would understand that you can’t change anyone but yourself —- way earlier!
I would have let go of the fear 20 years sooner.
That all being said….here I am. If I live to be 100…I still have another lifetime plus!
