Meet Sarah Stone-Aldridge of SCStone Hair in Flower Mound

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Stone-Aldridge.

Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out in the hair world 11 years ago as a receptionist for a high-end salon in Highland Village. I have always been intrigued by hair. In high school, I used to do my friends hair for proms and dances and I was constantly cutting bangs for my friends in drama class (yes, bangs were verrrryyy in!) I knew I had a strong love for making people feel beautiful I just didn’t know what to do with that energy. Fast forward to three years into university, and I still have that strong urge to do hair. So I drop out and move back to Texas and get a job, then find out what my next steps were.

As the receptionist, I got to learn what it took to run the business and how to work with clients on the front office end of the industry. We had a great owner that said she would guarantee a job for me if I went ahead and went to cosmetology school. I went to night school at first and then went full force into day school. Eleven months later, I graduated, I was extremely motivated and still am. After working for nine years at the same salon, getting married, moving, I went on my own! I have loved every second of it, while there have been struggles along the way, I would not trade this life for anything!!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was tough for a while, I lived in OKC for part of my career and traveled back and forth between there and Flower Mound. This was all happening while I was engaged, planning a wedding, and trying to convince my future husband that he should leave his steady paying job, all to go for the hope of better opportunities in Texas. That was some of the toughest months of my life, not knowing what day it was, much less what state I was in. I am very lucky that I have such an amazing husband, he had so much faith in me that we took that leap and have had a great time growing my business. He is definitely my number 1 fan – sorry mom and dad!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SCStone Hair – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I run my own business, SCStoneHair, out of a salon suite in Legacy Salon Suites in Flower Mound. I specialize in tape-in and hand tied extensions as well as blondes, and bridal. I am most proud of my extension work. I get so much joy out of the transformation that happens in a short amount of time. Extensions can add volume, length as well as change your hair color! I was recently hired as an extension educator for a brand and I really enjoy this new side path hair is taking me on.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No BIG changes but I do plan on trying to incorporate extension work into my everyday work life. I would like to see my education career flourish, I really enjoy spreading knowledge as well as taking some new tips and tricks along the way. I never want to stop growing, so I will say I will follow whatever path hair takes me on.
