Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Carrizales.
Jared, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Heroic Search is an agency born from serendipitous circumstances. My previous employer, a local digital agency, didn’t see eye to eye on the care and attention that was needed for clients, and it bothered me a great deal. Unfortunately, this is a common situation with digital agencies, and when my vocal disdain for this type of treatment resulted in getting let go, I made a commitment to doing a better job with my own company. Heroic Search was born less than a week afterwards.
I certainly never set out to start an agency, but after seeing how the sausage was made, I decided I could provide a solid service, and started a new company. Fast forward to today, and our team numbers 7 and are spread out among 3 different continents, and have had clients in just as may places.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’ve had our fair share of difficult challenges, as well as lucky breaks. Some of our biggest struggles have revolved around scaling the business well enough so our team isn’t spread so thin, as well as keeping up with new technologies and incorporating them in our service offerings as needed. Clients expect a top-tier product from us, and so it requires a great deal of experimentation and learning while still getting the work done.
Please tell us about Heroic Search.
Heroic Search is a digital marketing agency that specializes in content marketing and digital PR. Most of our campaigns revolve around creating and/or promoting content on behalf of a client with the main goal being to earn revenue.
I’m most proud of the importance we place on delivering return on investment (ROI) to our clients. As “standard” as that may sound, the digital marketing realm is the wild west, and a lot of clients get taken for a ride. So by structuring our campaigns by ROI (i.e., how much money the campaign makes), we’re able to retain clients very well, and understand with great detail why a campaign did/didn’t work.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have put more of an emphasis on creating more partnerships, sooner. Having leads and clients come from your website, or paid advertising campaigns are great, but in my experience, the best (and most lucrative) projects come from referrals or agencies in related fields.
