My career started at Missouri University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Communications and a minor in Theatre. I put myself through college by modeling and teaching modeling classes which lead to an opportunity to work with a company called Precious Formals on the wholesale side. I started as a model in the showroom and quickly worked my way up through sales and marketing. A two month opportunity turned into two years of experience on the wholesale side before I met Terry Costa who hired me as her bridal manager and I quickly moved up to general manager of her 14,000 square foot location. I worked for Ms. Costa for seven years before purchasing the business in 2007. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of growing my business and enriching my teammates lives in one of the most competitive markets in the country.
Has it been a smooth road?
Everything worth having is fighting for and Terry Costa’s success story is no different. We definitely have faced our share of challenges but we face them together and our team is stronger for it. Keeping up with ever-changing trends is always an uphill battle, whether that means updating our merchandising, revamping our inventory, tweaking our online presence and/or navigation the ever-changing world of social media.
Technology will always keep us on our toes as there is always a new platform to master. There are so many dangers associated with online shopping if you’re not shopping on a trusted, authorized site like terrycosta.com so educating our customers is an ongoing effort because we truly care about their shopping experience and don’t want to see them suffer at the hands of an overseas site selling counterfeit gowns. The majority of these gowns never even arrive and that kind of customer abuse must be stopped.

We pride ourselves as a one-stop shop for all your formal-wear and bridal needs, boasting a full-service bridal salon and everything you need to complete your head-to-toe red carpet look including customizable accessories, shoes, gloves…even fabulous hats for Derby and charity events! We provide a casual but elegant environment and encourage our customers to utilize our consultants’ experience to make them look and feel they’re best. Many of our teammates have worked with us 5-10 years and several have been with us 20+ years! Whether you’re seeking traditional or trendy, simple or elaborate, Terry Costa has it all!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Technology will continue to change the face of nearly every industry you can imagine and ours is no different. Our clients demand and deserve a more interactive shopping experience at brick and mortar stores. We are always working to provide a fun, friendly environment that incorporates the latest tech advances. We provide iPads in-store for our clients to browse our inventory, feature fashion shows on large-screen TVs throughout the store and provide backdrops and props to make their say-yes-to-the-dress moment Insta-ready. Shopping isn’t a solitary experience–teens and brides alike want to share the excitement with their social media besties and we love to be a part of that fun. We even feature our clients posted pics in real time on the big screens here at the store so our consultants can take part in the magical moments they helped create.
