Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Elizabeth.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jordan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After my career dancing with the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys, it was time to think about my next steps! I always had an interest in fashion and luckily the right opportunity presented itself! I worked in men’s fashion for Q Clothier starting in 2013! I was a bespoke men’s stylist. After years of working with my clients, I realized how many of them had spouses that also wanted style help. I came across several women who hated to shop and I was exposed to the struggle people have with fashion. Putting outfits together was a common challenge and knowing what clothes to pair with what body type was a struggle for a lot of people.
I started shopping for a few people, organizing their closets, and I helped to get rid of old and out of style garments. I quickly realized there was a real need for what I was doing. People found it very beneficial and convenient. So then, J.E. Styles was born! I help my clients with packing for vacations, laying out outfit ideas, creating a look book, and of course personal shopping. I work remotely all across the DFW area and I ship boxes of clothing to people out of state! I know personal shopping has a reputation for being expensive, but there isn’t a budget that I can’t work with.
I consider myself very lucky to have landed in the industry I fell into. I don’t ever wake up dreading work and I get to shop for different people with different styles and help them to feel confident!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are so many services that send clothing to your front door, and I get the same question a lot. “How are you any different from the box services?” With that, I have had to think outside the box and differentiate myself. What I offer is a more personalized experience, so I really get to know the client, their lifestyle, and what they feel comfortable in. Also, with my services there isn’t any hassle with returns for the client, I do it all! The challenge with my work is that “I do it all.” I can’t hire people under me to shop, because when I receive a referral, people want to work with me specifically. So my biggest challenge has been taking on full responsibility!
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I think one of the things that I took from being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader was the ability to communicate with anyone in any environment. That has helped me to know how to interact with different clients because no two are the same! It has really been all about building and keeping those relationships, and that is one of the things I enjoy most about my job!
I’m most proud that people put their trust in me to find the clothes to wear to work, on dates, to dinners, etc. It always makes me happy to receive photos of people in their new outfits with a smile on their face, saying “Thank You.” I also love to see the progress from start to finish when I’m doing an organization project. It’s instant gratification every day!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Last holiday season I received a lot of inquiries from husbands wanting to gift my services to their wife. I thought “wow, people actually want to give my services as a gift?” A Christmas gift is a big deal!
I had a few businesses hire me to be the “highlight” of their work parties and measure everyone for a custom shirt. That is a big investment for a lot of people and they put that trust in me to do it right!
It just helps to solidify that my services are needed and people hire me to work with me! It’s a great feeling to have.
