Ashlee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Conceited by Ashlee Chanel started out as an unnamed lipstick line five years ago when I moved to Dallas. I moved here from East Texas with my cousin, Brooke who is a MUA. I would go to work with her and was introduced to other MUAs through her. She would always do my makeup and they would compliment me on my lips and say that I should lip model. Eventually, I started getting compliments from other women who would want to know where I got my lipstick from. One day, it hit me, I should sell my own lipstick!!! I had no clue where to get products from or what I would name this line, but I started a journal and would write down every idea that I had or everything I came across that could help make this come to life. As I said, that was five years ago. It took a while but the site now has lipsticks, lipglosses, lip pencils, and lip seal available for purchase. Eventually, more products will be added like eye shadows, mink eyelashes, hair extensions, and our logo t-shirts to name a few.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely NOT been a smooth road. I’ve fallen down many times, but I always get back up and I will never quit! Some of the things I’ve struggled with along the way include losing money and dealing with inventory vendors that I can’t go to in person when I need them. I hate explaining how I want things via email and phone. The biggest challenge that I’ve faced is support. I’ve had people that I just KNEW would support me barely acknowledge me, but I have so many that I don’t even know that support me that I’m not even bothered by it anymore.

Currently, Conceited by Ashlee Chanel has lipsticks, lipglosses, lip pencils, and lip seal available for purchase on the site. Eventually, more products will be added like eye shadows, mink eyelashes, hair extensions, and our logo t-shirts to name a few. We specialize in beauty and confidence. In a world where social media “rules” beauty standards, I wanted to create a go-to for the everyday hardworking woman to be able to find all of their beauty needs at the click of a mouse. I created hashtags for these women to use on social media so that I can see that confidence that my products help bring out in them and I’m most proud of that. Truly caring and wanting to see my customers confident in their beauty is what sets me apart.
