Art & Life with Alexandria Nolan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Nolan.

Alexandria, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up loving art. The ability for it to evoke something unique within each person that experiences it has always captured my infatuation. Art is what helped me find my place in this world. I never felt like I fit into anything until I realized that our lives are a work of art that we are constantly crafting. Despite what the influences of the world may reflect, there are no lines or boundaries that you must color within on your journey. This is still something I have to constantly remind myself as I’m infiltrating the modeling world. I understand that I am not a typical model, but I do believe that this is what makes it so remarkable. I have all the potential to bring another element to this industry that could remind people that they too have the means within themselves to craft their own beautiful.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I create art through modeling and creative directing. I spend hours researching and planning for shoots in order to portray something deeper than an attractive picture. The message behind my art is always evolving. I try to take taboo topics and turn them into something that is engaging and inviting. Not all of my work is explained, but every shoot I do has a deeper meaning to them. I hope people can look at my art and take away more than just what is at the surface.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Most people hold their goals as the standard for success but once attained, realize that it is not all that is was made out to be. Success is not an end result. Success is the journey. I think a lot of people forget this, and that is when I tend to see people lose their drive, uniqueness, or passion. Holding this ideal in perspective is what I feel is essential for continued success and satisfaction. It creates constant pursuit and challenges for us, day in and day out – “What doesn’t challenge you, doesn’t change you” – Fred DeVito.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
As of now, my artwork is exclusive to Instagram. People can support my work by not only engaging on my page but by also supporting any other artist that I have the pleasure to work with. They all have such a unique style that I believe needs to be seen. By telling others just to stop at my page would be a disservice to them.
