Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Taylor.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Karina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Less than three years ago, I started my passion as a makeup artist. A lot of people don’t believe me when I say YouTube is what started everything from me learning, teaching, and having clients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, the opposite while having two toddlers (I suffered from postpartum depression when I had my second child); but that didn’t stop me, I had to get my certificate as a makeup artist if I wanted to have a better future as a freelancer. I had to live a life that had a routine which was work, school, my toddlers, husband. For a few months, I struggle but thanks to my support system, I got through every up and down but I got through it and accomplished it, well, at least half of my plans were accomplished.
My best advice for any women out there starting is don’t give up even when you see no support from other people, love yourself, love your work, lastly, be the best you can be every day and I promise you’ll have progressed even when you don’t see any.
What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I specialize in makeup in ages from 13-35. I love to show the lighter spots of the skin including contouring and love the details that the skin has. I’ve worked from lightest to the darkest skins, from the redness of the skin to the palest conditions, scratches, scars, or even pimples.
I’m known more for my dramatic looks like in quinces, proms, weddings, etc.
My brand is my life… I put my time and effort into my clients. I love to see my clients in happy-tears because that means, I’ve done my work right, I just love to make them feel like the most important person of the day.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Besides my makeup school, definitely, some few bloggers.
