Hidden Gems: South East Dallas

Every day we have a choice. We can support an up and coming podcaster, try a new family-run restaurant, join a boutique gym started by a local fitness champ or we could keep giving away our money to the handful of giants who already control so much of our commerce. Our daily decisions impact the kind world we live in; if we want a world where small businesses are growing and artists and creatives are thriving then we should support them with our time, money and attention. We’re proud to highlight inspiring creatives and entrepreneurs each week in Hidden Gems series.  Check out some of South East Dallas’s gems below.

Rachel Carey

My journey to heal began about 11 years ago. I’d experienced so many hardships that I lost my way. Growing up “in church” was just that, a routine, a ritual, something I did not really understand or take seriously; however, it did lay a foundation of having faith in something bigger than myself. When I was 14 years old, I was sexually molested by a 44-year old pastor who had been our family pastor for over 20 years. Read more>>

I have always had a love for music growing up as a kid. It’s safe to say that my Stepdad, Ronald Johnson, had a HUGE impact with my love for music. My Dad had an extensive record collection that he kept in the “Music Room” of our home that was filled with posters of artists, a small sofa, a record player, headphones and speaker system.
