Meet Jacquies Smith of Man vs Woman in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquies Smith.

Jacquies, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I attended south oak cliff high school and from there I earned a football scholarship to attend the University of Missouri. I was a four-year letterman there and graduated with my bachelor degree. I was a team captain and won numerous awards Defensive lineman of the year and all big 12 teams honors. From there I begin my pro career, I’ve played in the national football league for the past six years with the buffalo bill, Tampa bay Bucs, Detroit Lions, and Oakland raiders. As my career in football is winding down, I begin to dive into other endeavors and passions. Clothing and fashion have always been an interest of mines. Growing up, people would always ask my opinion on what to wear and then that turned into can you go to the mall and pick my clothes out. I like to consider myself versatile in my styling. I started working on Man vs Woman at the end of 2018, learning about the ends and outs of putting together my own online store. As of now, we have the website launched and are up in running.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been tough because of the hands-on aspects that I want to have while carrying out everyday important routines. I’ve always been kind of a shy person that sidesteps being in the spotlight but in this venture, I have had to come out my shell and show face. This had probably been my biggest challenge while also putting together a team that is passionate and works just as hard as me has created some wrinkles. Learning all the different things needed into launching your own business has been eye-opening.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Man vs Woman is a lifestyle brand that brings the idea that opposites attract but we can come together and create one brand for all. The brand allows each gender to be who they are and look good while doing it. We specialize is an apparel that both men and women can wear. I am glad that we connect with everyone and give them a chance to be apart of this brand.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always into fashion, family, food, traveling, sports. Sports allowed me to travel to places that I never would’ve imagine going to. Traveling has become a staple in my life as I have gotten older. In traveling, I was able to be exposed to different cultures that has been eye-opening. The family aspect has always been big growing up, as we are a close-knit family. Ive played any and every sport growing up because I loved the competition and teamwork it brought to my life.
