Meet Chenee Turner of GlowbyNaye & Glow Cosmetics in Mesquite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chenee Turner.

Chenee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I’ve always been into makeup, I got into it really heavily over the past few years. I mastered the art of doing my own makeup and got extremely good at it. For a very long time, people would ask me to do their make up for events, shows, etc and I would always decline because I wasn’t confident enough in my own abilities to slay another person’s face. See the way I am – I’m an extremely particular person so I like things exactly how I like them – & I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to slay a face as well as I slay my own and the customer wouldn’t like it. I’ve known what I wanted for a while now and the fear of the unknown has kind of stood in my way. Well, after constant prayers, having conversations with my spouse I finally realized that if this is what I want I have to go for it! No matter what, no matter who jumps in a board, who likes, shares or comment- I owe it to myself to be the best version of me. When I am doing makeup and creating a look, I’m my best self, I feel like I’m doing what I was set out to do, I’m living in my calling. It has NOT always been this way. I’ve been to college, trade schools, nursing school – I’ve dabbled in a lot of different things trying to figure out what was for me. None of those things ever panned out – either I just didn’t enjoy it, or it couldn’t keep my interest and I am not the person to do something just for money. I believe that whatever you do whatever field your in be passionate about it because that’s where you will find your joy, your peace, it is important to live in a world that you have manifested, that you desire. It’s something about making another enhancing other person beauty that makes me feel good. Learning the art of a well-blended face, a perfect wing liner is what I enjoy. After years of not having it figured out I finally figure it out and I am finally happy. I am finally Glowing and growing as to which birthed GlowbyNaye.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Omg, no. It definitely has not been a smooth road! I’ve faced so many obstacles, and setbacks trying to start both of these businesses. From just my own self inflicted fear to not knowing if people will love my products enough to purchase them. It’s safe to say you are indeed your biggest critic. In some cases that can be very detrimental to your growth- sometimes, you have to get out of your own way and just make it happen. Starting a business is expensive, from Trademarking, obtaining licenses and permits, all the way down to marketing your and product selection. So, if you don’t have “start-up “ money, I suggest you began to set aside a few dollars in the bank if you ever intend on starting your own business.

Please tell us about GlowbyNaye & Glow Cosmetics.
GlowbyNaye is me. It’s my personal brand. I do makeup, eyebrow fills, one on one sessions where I instruct an individual on how to properly apply a full face of makeup. I specialize in skincare, seeing how that is the most important aspect of makeup artistry to me. Making sure that you take care of your skin, your natural skin before applying any products. Glow cosmetics is a branch of GlowbyNaye as to which I sale lashes, lipgloss, eyeshadow palettes (for now).

I am proud of my products. It has taken me a very long time to select the perfect color palettes, shades and chemistry if lip glosses that I take pride in my products

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is of me Andy mom going to Michigan Adventures. I was so scared of roller coasters and she made me conquer my fear. I rode almost every ride. She and I had an amazing day.
