Today we’d like to introduce you to Shani Scott.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started working in Radio and Print when I was 17 years old. After graduating from high school, I knew which direction I wanted to go in, so I went to a radio station and asked for an internship. At the time, I was enrolled full time in college, but I wanted to be on the fast track. I didn’t wait until my senior year, I started my freshman year and haven’t looked back.
I have been fortunate to work in various markets across the country and hold positions from Street Team member up to Operations Manager in radio. I have also been able to work as a Sports Reported covering the NBA and make appearances on the nationally syndicated television show TMZ.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, my journey through my career has been very smooth. Moving from city to city was exactly what I wanted out of life. Relationships and health are what have caused some bumps in the road for me. Marriage and dating were not easy for me. The attention that I received from my audience was too much for the other party. Then, there were the health issues I have experienced. After having my youngest daughter, I suffered a stroke and have to learn how to speak in complete sentences, write and walk again. I also lost sight in my left eye. I had to take a step back a fully recover. Then, there is that time I had a heart attack on air and about 14 months later, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. But here I am, we got through all of it and I am stronger than ever.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
Dallas is the perfect city to launch an entertainment or media company because it is not oversaturated with companies that have global notoriety. I can say the same for Tyler, Texas as well. I also believe that both cities are a great place to raise kids. My daughters love living in Desoto and Tyler. The only thing is not attractive to me is that public transportation doesn’t cover the entire metroplex.
