Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Mccord.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always knew I had a passion for hair, mainly coloring, but it wasn’t until my oldest sister started her hair journey at the Toni & Guy Academy, that I realized hair could be a career. I enrolled there as well after I graduated high school and then worked for the Toni & Guy company for a couple of years. I was aching for more knowledge, new ways of creating, and a salon that felt like home. Luckily, I found my salon and trained underneath the owner and my love for hair was greater than ever.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Many times I cried over how I never could see my passion making me an actual living. I almost gave up on hair altogether but my heart knew better. I worked two jobs for all of my hair career, until I started at Beauty Hive. My boss lady is huge on business plans and goals for all of us and I was able to leave my second job a couple of months into being on the salon floor. I only see it going up from here and I am so excited.
Please tell us about Beauty Hive Salon.
I specialize in lived-in color. Few of my favorite techniques are balayage, foilayage, and babylights. I love being able to give my clients happiness through their hair! Everyone says your hair is the best accessory and that’s so true. I’m proud of the culture we create at Beauty Hive. It’s all about empowering women!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have searched for a salon where I could assist underneath someone. I truly grew as an artist after assisting one on one.
