Meet Beki Lynn Pubill of Style for Love in Lakewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beki Lynn Pubill.

Beki Lynn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always had a passion for education. I loved to learn, and grow, understand how things work and why. I began my education training as a professional hairdresser at 14 as a sophomore at Mckinney High School. I was lucky to go to a school that valued vocational education, that provided professional leadership training and encouraged excellence beyond a basic skill set. I was hired by TONI & GUY as a stylist at 17, and by 19, I became an educator, teaching the art and science of mastery in hairdressing, growing and developing teams in salons across the metroplex. I studied yoga, the art of self-development and personal transformation and became certified as a Master Instructor for Integrated Energy Therapy and Reiki. After 13 years, I left to pursue my own practice and created Style for Love. I had my own ideas in how I wanted to conduct my practice, making each client count instead of sacrificing quality for speed. It grew quickly, and within a few years, I expanded to include a second location in Dallas.

I had a desire to create an impact with my efforts beyond my own personal business- so Style for Love became more than just a hair salon, it became an ideal, a branded movement that emerged into a lifestyle brand, the first of its kind to be recognized and celebrated by the holistic community of North Texas. Beyond hair, Style for Love grew to include its own brand of beauty ritual products such as natural artisan soaps, bath bombs, perfumes, candles, as well as other brands that provide for skincare needs, nutrition, and additional essential wellness solutions.

Life. Love. Style. Under these core-based principles, I pursued a path of consistent practice in hairdressing, yoga, and spiritual progress. Many times, the path led me into the community to serve and support collective missions towards unity, Style for Love mini pop up salon and boutique has been featured in several local events including Atma Bhakti market, Aum Rhythms, The Holistic Festival of Life and Wellness, and now also Arlington Farmers Market. Evolving Style for Love into a lifestyle brand allowed me to make room for others to share the journey and experience for their own understanding of its impact. I love when people interpret Style for Love in their own way, what it means for them and how it has influenced their journey for growth through transformation, beauty, and creative expression.

The story of Style for Love emerged out of my personal spiritual practice with the parable of the lotus flower through the Sanskrit mantra “Om Mani Padme Om”, translated as “Hail the jewel in the lotus.” I believe this is a lesson, teaching us to look within to find and cultivate beauty, that beauty indeed is in the spark animating the consciousness of each individual, the source of their presence and unique personality. Applying concepts of illumination to style in the art of hair acknowledges the light in each of us, opening up the potential for our best selves shine through our presentation in how we choose to express the essence of who we are into the world.
The artistic development of Style for Love was inspired by the water lilies of Monet, an artist who used Impressionism in his painting to inspire emotion within. I painted a series of Monet inspired water lilies, lotus flowers, and through watercolors and brushstrokes, I came to understand the beauty I wanted to create, much like Monet, I too wanted to inspire a feeling, not just a look. I wanted to create Style that feels as beautiful as it looks, a feeling of love, of cherishing oneself as being a conduit of great love.

I was inspired by my friend and mentor who teaches yoga from a similar principle, the idea of being led by love in all I do enchant me, and to this day, it is still my favorite concept. Let love lead, and trust you will always find your way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Relatively smooth, yes, I seem to experience a consistent pattern of growth and evolution through upgrades in my experience. The most turbulence I experience is usually just before a big shift. A strong commitment to excellence doesn’t always make me popular, and I find when these shifts happen, I disconnect with people who don’t share my passion for integrity. I expect cleanliness and a smooth even workflow, and if something is not going well I don’t tolerate it. I change, evolve, innovate, grow. I don’t stay stuck in bad situations, and the only time I find myself in a circumstance that is terrible it’s usually temporary, and because who I have given my trust to abuses the power of control. Which is why I enjoy being self-employed. If there is a problem, I fix it. I don’t ignore it, lie about it, or pretend it doesn’t exist. It’s more my style to look at a situation accurately and assess best possible solutions, come up with ideas, innovate, invent if I have to, and provide the potential for growth while learning from my process. It’s just how I am engineered. To function, properly. To heal what’s hurt, to fix what’s broken, to correct what has gone wrong, always working towards a higher greater good. It’s common sense, to me, I just wish it was more common.

Style for Love – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I primarily execute in the field of hair design, as a master hairstylist and color specialist, most of my time is spent working one on one with clients to create, develop, and maintain looks that can be worn in a variety of ways that enhance their best features and suit their lifestyle needs. Style for Love has become known for its beauty, even though I have an extensive skillset in European hair design I tend to attract gorgeous powerful females who opt for vivacious, romantic hairstyles that are constructed to offer maximum movement and versatility. I have some male clients too, all professionals at the top of their fields who expect top-notch performance in the experience before during and after their service. The thing I am most proud of is my client loyalty. Nearly 80% of my client retention has kept my following with me for over a decade. This means I don’t have to sacrifice my integrity, my morals, and personality because enough of who supports me accepts and appreciates me as I am, which in turn enables me to be of greater service to others, to really come from my heart when I provide my services. It is wonderful to be able to really care about people, and when you take care of people who take care of people, you know that love is being spread beyond the hairstyle you are designing, you know that Style for Love is bringing beauty to the world like never before. It is my greatest honor to touch peoples hearts and minds with my example of pursuing a path in alignment with your values. The greatest gift you can ever give is your presence, especially when you express your essence from a position of pure love.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being received by the holistic community, especially The Holistic Festival of Life and Wellness. This came though as I achieved a personal goal of completing 350 classes with Sunstone Yoga, my third studio to practice with about 12 years into my yoga journey. The perseverance gave me a bridge to cross over from the beauty industry to health and wellness, my whole life I aspired for something that would open the door to a broader perspective but it only came after years of practice, prayer, and resolve. To have an entire community recognize my brand in an honorable way gave me hope and a new sense of what’s possible, to be seen and acknowledged for what you believe in and celebrated for it gave me the validation that my life is on purpose. Not many hair salons can say that they are respected for who they are beyond their clientele by many. Standing up for what you believe in, pursuing it with passion every day, staying the course unshaken by the turbulent storms of our times is not easy. Being seen for who you are is an amazing feeling money can’t buy. The beauty is real.
