Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela and Randi Pryor.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela and Randi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Angela: The concept for Dimp Records was created in 2014 when I lost my father. Being in the music industry has always been a dream of mine and I wanted to do something big that would change lives and make my father proud of me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Angela: Has not been a smooth road at all. I say that with laughter inside. The original plan was to get funding from outside sources, but could not get any support so it was a struggle. Then, we came up with the idea just to stay independent and grind it out ourselves. Now, things are moving well and we are super excited!
Randi: Also, I wanted to add one of our struggles is definitely telling OUR story, the way we want to. Without judgment and assumptions, we now have the opportunity to and we are going to continue to stay loyal & a family throughout all of it too!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dimp Records story. Tell us more about it.
Angela: Dimp Records is an LGBTQ based recording label that will be signing all genres. I am the CEO of the label and my wife Randi Pryor is the Vice President and both run all daily operations for the label. I think I am most proud of our humble beginnings and being able to watch the growth of the company. Signing an artist like Kobeazy that is a mega-talent just proves that the LGBTQ community has so much unseen talent. That is what sets us apart, the fact we are going to give these talents an opportunity to be themselves and change their lives.
Randi: The fact that everybody that is involved in our label is multi-talented. Whether it’s behind the scenes, lyrically, production, business! It doesn’t matter we always have creativity coming from everyone. That definitely sets us apart from the rest.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Angela: In the next 5 to 10 years, I see the industry getting more creative and producing more all-around entertainers. Fans are eager to watch the journeys of these musically inclined individuals.
Randi: I honestly think in 5-10 years we can and will be a household name. And the only LGBTQ Recording Label to do it. And I can’t wait.
