Meet Kristina Uriegas-Reyes of Hello Tallulah in San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Uriegas-Reyes.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m from San Antonio, but before I opened my business, I spent seven years in New York City, writing and working with small businesses through social media. I have a background in retail, specializing in vintage and consignment. I’d consider myself a blogger turned entrepreneur after I finally decided to follow my dream of opening a vintage boutique. I named the shop Hello Tallulah after my adorable pup. Unfortunately, she passed away a year after I opened, but her name lived on! The name also evokes the glamour of old Hollywood actress Tallulah Bankhead.

My collection of clothing is highly curated. At the same time, I want to make vintage feel special and accessible. I was recently titled Editor’s Choice, “Best Place to Get a Party Dress No One Else Has” from San Antonio Magazine. SA Current named me Best Vintage Store in San Antonio 2019!

As a body positivity advocate and a former plus-size model, sizing is at the forefront of my mind as I curate my collection. It is important that I carry a variety of sizes. Everyone should have the opportunity to feel fabulous in something unique. I’m happy to see my shop become part of the city’s thriving community. I longed for a space that could be the ultimate happy place. I want customers to walk in and feel excited to express themselves through fashion. My shop is a welcoming wonderland of whimsy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Vintage can often be niche so finding my audience and spreading the word has been a slow, but rewarding process.

Please tell us about Hello Tallulah.
I’m known for a variety of colorful vintage that usually ranges from the 1950s-1970s. My shop itself is whimsical, colorful and over the top, which I adore. I think Ive created a destination spot that I’m really proud of.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would not have done one thing differently! I did my research, got educated on what needed to happen and honed my skills over the years. It all came together serendipitously.

I’ve actually shopped at hello tallulah and loved it. It’s an experience so worth it! Kristina is adorable and so personable. She had snacks and drinks available and I was with friends and we all had to buy something. I love the clothes I bought. Thank you Kristina!
