Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Bourland and Johnathon Bogard.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
John has been interested in plants and gardening since he was a young child. He started a garden with his grandfather when he was in middle school. I was always slightly hesitant to get plants simply because of the fear I’d kill them. Fast forward to college where we began collecting a few cacti here and there but didn’t have too much space. We moved to Dallas when John began dental school and our plant obsession grew. We had a roommate who loves plants just as much as we did and we slowly began making our home an urban jungle. We’d hit up all the nursery and gardening stores on the weekends and started to learn more about specific plant species and slowly choosing favorites. We spend as much time researching and learning about plants as we can in order to make sure they’re thriving. Our goal is to share the information we’ve learned to help other plant lovers along the way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been fairly smooth. We’ve lost a few plants here and there But I think the hardest thing we’ve encountered is moving our entire collection from Dallas to Abilene.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Texas Plant Collective – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Texas Plant Collective started as an Instagram plant account for us to share our experience and the experiences of others. We did our first market with Little Plank Vintange and Years to Your Health in June and plan to do more in the future. I’m most proud to be a part of a community of people that always want to help each other and offer advice.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our biggest change was definitely the change of location. We do have some ideas in the works like more markets and maybe some custom pottery.
