Meet Adrenna Burnett of A.Shy’e Designs in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrenna Burnett.

Adrenna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Throughout my whole life, I was always into fashion, and dressing up. Every where I went it was always a fashion show for me! Everyone always complimented me on my style, and how I put certain pieces together. One day, last year, it finally clicked to me that I could make garments that represented my style. In December of 2018, I bought a sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and fabric. The first piece I ever made was a pair of plaid pants. So, I started making items piece by piece and wore them!

Prior to all of this, a young lady wanted me to make her a prom dress, at the time I wasn’t where I wanted to be with fashion, so I turned down the opportunity. 2019, the opportunity came back up and I went for it! I was nervous, but also excited. I would be creating my first prom dress ever! I had planned on making one prom dress, and ended up creating or adding to three other dresses!

I’m currently working on branding my business more, taking it worldwide and whipping up a never seen before garment.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, it has been a very smooth road. I haven’t had any challenges yet, but I would say that starting your own business is the hardest part. There will be days where you won’t have any clients, some days 1-2 and other days plenty of clients. Being patient is also a struggle, you expect for everything to take off on the first day, and that’s now a business or brand operates. Mastering patience is a must.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a self-taught fashion designer. I sew gowns, such as prom dresses, outfits for birthdays, weddings, photoshoots or whatever your heart desires. I am currently known for sewing prom dresses, but I am working on being known for my own creations. So far, I’m proud of how I’ve grown my business just within a couple of months. The difference between me and other designers is that our creativity isn’t the same. The clothing I will be creating is fresh, it gives you the chance to express yourself.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is a goal that has been accomplished long term. I will consider my brand successful when it has been in the fashion industry for years! I aim to make you feel like you’re the only girl in the world. I’m straying away from designing replicas of other designers work, that’s not what fashion designers do.
