Today we’d like to introduce you to David Contreras.
Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in 2011 as a car photographer for a dealership. At first it was just a job and then slowly I became more interested in photography and making cars look awesome for the dealership’s website. Over time I became interested in shooting real estate and then portraits.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Just like everything I had to practice, practice, practice to become better. Every now and then I would get a request to shoot photos for something I wasn’t too familiar with, but I took on any challenge that came along the way so that I could gain experience. I failed a couple of times but got back up and kept on trying. Still learning new things till this day, new strategies, new lighting techniques, etc. Owning and running a business is a hard but I take inspiration for others in the field who can lend advice and I am thankful for people like them.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I started David Edward photography in 2014 doing mostly car photography, then started doing real estate and portraits, those are the kinds of photos I specialize in. You can always find me in the downtown Dallas area shooting lifestyle types of photos. I am most proud of is when a client tells me I’ve exceeded their expectations, I look back at the long road I’ve traveled in this photography business and then gives me motivation to give my future clients a great experience as well so they too can love the pictures that I’ve captured for them.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, it is there is a lot of creative and talented people out there taking photos. The city is growing more and more each year and different people have different tastes, so if are passionate about photography I’d definitely start going out there and shoot.
