Today we’d like to introduce you to Asa Leveaux.
Asa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Asa Leveaux and I am known as America’s #1 EntreQUEERneur coach because I help queer-identified entrepreneurs create their first $10,000 in business. I have published four books with the following titles: “Why I Won’t Hire Black People”, “365 Erotic Reasons Why I Love You”, “I Am Man Enough”, and “I Am Woman Enough”. I am a two-time Amazon Bestselling author, a proud father to my s-u-n, 17-year combat veteran with a Bronze Star, creator of the Oklahoma Black Business Expo, a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and a pending Master of Legal Studies in International Business Law. All of those things are real and have brought joy to my life. However, my life was not always as “picture perfect”. I know what it’s like to feel the building that you are in shake as the rocket attacks begin to land closer to you minute by minute while in a combat area. I remember the gut-wrenching agony of finding out that the person you took vows to “love and to hold” decided to love and hold someone else not once, not twice, but six different times. I, in this moment, remember being a known entrepreneur and still making up in my mind that suicide is the only way out of the business that had transformed from a level of bliss to a complete burden.
I began my entrepreneurial journey when I was thirteen as I pushed a lawnmower to adjacent neighborhoods while learning what it means to sale. In my 20’s, I opened a daycare center that was licensed for over 100 children, a profitable commercial janitorial company and a retail store that offered multicultural artwork. In my 20’s I also lost it all! I did not believe that I could ever get through those failures and disappointments because I was not ready to accept how I was responsible. A leader is responsible for everything that does and does not happen and this was a lesson that I needed to learn.
I am currently weeks away from launching my fifth book titled, “Fuck Balance: A paradigm shift for entrepreneurs and those who love them”.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Entrepreneurship has not been a smooth road and because of this, I have become a better driver. A few of the struggles that I have experienced include being so broke that I chose to file for state assistance to feed my son, During this time I was already a published author and had years of business knowledge but did not understand how to truly monetize what I had created. Besides the public assistance, I can remember making the choice to become a go-go dancer in Los Angeles for a time in order to help ends meet. I did not realize that the same tools that it took to command a box in a dim-lit club were the same used to command a well-lit stage in front of large audiences. I am remembering the feeling of being denied service because I am a queer-identified individual. I did not “come out” until after I was thirty after growing up in a Pentecostal holiness church in Oklahoma and being married to a woman. A graphic designer told the team that I had hired that he did not support assisting me and wouldn’t feel comfortable providing service to me. Even as I recall this experience, I am at a loss of words to describe what I felt that day.

As America’s #1 EntreQUEERneur Coach, I coach frustrated queer entrepreneurs on how to create their first $10,000. While I coach individuals that don’t identify as queer, I do understand the nuances that someone that does may have to navigate. I provide training and coaching through my training and development agency called Genius Academy, which began in 2014. What I am most proud of is the multiple “aha moments” that my clients receive in the course of our time together. I am also proud to have work with the following organizations: Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government, Miss Universe Pageant, T-Mobile, Goodwill and the Bahrain Franchise & Dine Expo.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that I have a very clear way forward for my clients so that they leave with actionable steps rather than only a feeling of motivation.
What were you like growing up?
I was a quiet nerd growing up which is the best way to describe who I was. My favorite past times were being on my bunk bed with a Spirograph or reading Sherlock Holmes books. I was greatly influenced by books like that and television to the point that I carried a briefcase for a while in elementary because I desired to be a lawyer when I grew up. Even though I treasured my quiet time, I am the eldest of four siblings which looked like me being able to run a household by the time I was eleven. When I say running a household, I mean everything from preparing meals cooked on the stove, being able to pay bills, signing permission slips for siblings while in class, braiding the hair of my three sisters and helping with homework.
