Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Accetta.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After twenty-five years of teaching and training women on five continents, I realized we all struggle with very similar things. I spent a good portion of my twenties and early 30’s figuring out what I was or wasn’t doing to create joy in my life and success in my business. That reflection showed me MANY things that I was doing that were actually completely counterproductive to my success and happiness. It wasn’t until my late forties did I see this pattern in most of the women I was training and coaching. It didn’t matter if I was in Singapore or South Africa, women were burdened with things like Mommy Guilt, Comparison, Bitterness and Insecurity. I saw these as “Landmines” that we were actually planting in our own lives!!!! At that point, I realized I had a responsibility to help other women protect their joy by defusing these destructive behaviors. I recently released the book “How to Defuse the Landmines We Plant in Our Lives” and have begun doing live workshops to help women dig in and dig up these things. I am truly honored to do this work and witness the miraculous breakthroughs that women have been experiencing. We women can’t understand the depth of love or the heights of happiness if we are sitting alone paralyzed with FEAR!!!! Our friends, family and YOU deserve YOU playing at the highest level of JOY!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road I have traveled has been full of challenges. My parents divorced when I was very young and my father struggled and eventually passed away because of Alcoholism and I endured a sexual assault at 18, These things left me with a great deal of baggage that I carried into every area of my life. I also had to walk through one of the darkest times recently when my husband of 26 years decided he wanted a divorce.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Truth.coach story. Tell us more about the business.
My company name is Truth.coach. We women all hold “truths” about every area of our life, physical, financial, emotional, social, and spiritual. The problem is that often our “truths” aren’t really true. For example, I told myself for years that I could never get back to a size eight because I had a horrible metabolism since having two children. That was MY truth but it wasn’t really TRUE! It took a trusted friend to point out that I was sabotaging any chance I had at getting to my goal size by not recognizing and calling out the lie. Unfortunately, the easiest person in the world to lie to is ourselves. As someone’s Truth.coach I hold a mirror up and sort through what is REALLY true as opposed to something we’ve told ourselves for so long we’ve started to accept it as true. It’s tough work but completely worth it!!!!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see that more and more women will start seeking deeper more meaningful friendships to create the community that we need. Our “community” used to be comprised of family, friends from our place of worship, and neighbors. Now we rarely live near our families, we run out of our place of worship because we have so much to get done before our week starts, and we pull into our garages and go into our houses never having the opportunity to see or meet our neighbors. Women NEED community! It is my mission and hope that my workshops, Girls Night Outs and Facebook Lives help cultivate everlasting healthy friendships.
