Meet Cesar Huesca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Huesca.

Cesar, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started playing guitar back in 1993 at age 10. MTV was my teacher at that time so I usually spent hours watching all sorts of music videos and trying to learn all those songs by ear. Tapes and CD’s of my sister’s favorite bands were a good source of information as well. Then in 1999, I started to join bands and play all around the local scene and three years later I got into a music academy in Mexico City where I met a lot of great teachers and there was the time to make conscious decisions about my upcoming career. So there I decided to get into the business as a sideman performer and started to get into auditions for mainstream acts and made several tours with less famous projects, and in 2008 I stepped into my first big league gig. It’s been 11 years going through various tours around my country, the U.S. Central and South America. Tons of music, cities, stages, friends and lifetime experiences; good and bad, but all in all this musical journey has been the best I could ever asked for.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of my main struggles were learning how to enjoy not only being on stage but also the other things surrounding the whole situation; traveling was rough at the beginning and at some point I was scared of being in a van for six or eight hours, I usually got sick very often, I was eating really bad and my mood was so fretful and I couldn’t get along well with people at some time. But all that started to change little by little once I understood that this business is not all about talent, but having a good attitude as well.

Tell us more about your work.
Well, I’m a Mexican musician. I play guitar in different live acts and projects mostly around Mexico but I’ve been all around the U.S. Canada, Mexico and some countries in South America. I’ve been on YouTube since 2006 when I started to have like worldwide exposition and today I’m doing well on most social media websites, so that helps in getting more and more people paying attention on my work as a touring guitarist, session performer and even a teacher, currently I have a bunch of online students and all this engagement caught the attention of some brands and manufacturers so I’m currently endorsed by them and that offers some nice advantages for me as an artist.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In this case I don’t think is about luck in it’s most part, I believe it’s more about the way you think about yourself inside the business-how do you visualize yourself and once you have that clear then starting to decompose everything in little goals and then going on once step at a time, not asking for too much too early and learning how to be as realistic as you can get in a world sometimes filled with a lot of delusion. Being focused and compromised with what I do and trying always to do my best has been my main command.
