Today we’d like to introduce you to Eboni Reed.
Eboni, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up a tomboy who loved makeup! I used to watch my mom and aunt apply their makeup and thought they were so pretty. When I got to middle school, I would sneak eyeliner and lip gloss and put it on once I got there and it would make me feel so confident. As I got older I would play with different looks and colors, my friends would often ask me to do their makeup when it was time to go out and I would be like “hell yea I got a look in mind”. It was then I knew I wanted to be an artist. Although I have practiced on myself and friends I was scared to jump out there but my best friend pushed me, she helped me book my first gig and the rest was history. I then jumped into retail and got my start at Sephora then later moved to Macy’s where I continued to learn so much on color matching, products and usage, skin care, and sanitation.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course not! I was juggling so much at one time, a full-time job and a part-time job all while trying to run my freelance business. There was a time where I didn’t think I wanted to continue freelance. The highs and lows became overwhelming but I knew I had to keep pushing. Theres times where I have to tell myself “it’s all worth it in the end” I’m working on some new things that bring me much joy while in the makeup game, it’s coming in the near future and I can’t wait to share, so be on the lookout!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Olympia’s Beauty is classic High glam! I can take it from Supernatural to high Glam. I specialize and known for my skin finish looks. That’s what I am most proud of that’s my thing… skin! I believe in taking your look to the next level by keeping it flawless. I get clients all the time that say they don’t want a heavy look and keep it natural and that’s exactly what I give.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The main person that I would give credit to that helped me so much is my best friend Gena. She’s a business owner herself in the beauty industry so she knows a lot of ins and outs and what it takes to get to the next level so for that I’m very appreciative. I also appreciate my clients continuously booking throughout the years and my family for promoting me at churches and to their friends. I’m also thankful for anyone who just even recommended me. I’m just so thankful and blessed to have a talent.
