Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Roseman.
Crystal, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had the heart to help people. I have worked in the field of financial investments since I graduated from college I realize that many people suffer from lack of finances or financial intellect. So I wanted to start a business that allows me to continue my current line of work and build for the future of my family. After talking to an entrepreneurial coach I was able to decide to pursue an event space of my own that would allow me to have a location to teach finances to the people in the community through workshops and seminars. In the process, I am able to open the doors to many budding entrepreneurs who want to take their business to the next level.
Gone are the days of having every business behind brick and mortar we live in a world where everything is online it’s less cost. Therefore, less risk. The problem with that is that it strips away the personal connection that business owners can make with potential and existing clients. Clients want to be able to see, touch, taste, and smell their products. They want to get to know the person behind these services. Social media is a great marketing tool but it does not rule out personal connections. People tend to buy more when they are in person. This is why my venue hosts a number of different business owners. They have pop up shops, networking events, poetry nights, comedy show, beauty events as well as workshops and seminars. This is the best way for entrepreneurs to connect with their audience.
My space allows them to be as creative as they want and not worry about an expensive overhead. This gives me true joy to see people go after their dreams and passions. It also allows me to give back because I have been able to partner with non-profits to use my space for donation drop sites, fundraiser events and events that bring awareness to their cause.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It took me a long time to figure out what type of business suits me. I am very entrepreneurial in nature so I have had businesses in the past but they were just like having a second job. I did not get joy or fulfillment out of them. I am a speaker and love doing it. However, there is no clear cut path to being successful in that arena. I am an action taker but I had to find the proper guidance from someone who is successfully doing what I want to do. That was the hardest part of my journey. I have endured a lot of life lessons and had to rid myself of people who didn’t truly support me that was a painful eyeopening experience. But when I emerged, I found a much happier, successful, self-loving version of myself. I am the happiest that I have ever been and I know that led me to meet the mentor who taught me how to be a successful event space owner. I have come out of the shell of who I once was and allow my light to shine. It has brought so many wonderful inspirational people into my life who support me and encourage me in this journey. I could not do this without my amazing support system of family and friends.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Social Corner DFW is a classy intimate venue that is made for many types of events. We hold up to 70 seated guests and up to 90 standing for events like networking mixers. We include many amenities such as tables and chairs. We are a one-stop-shop as we provide all the services that you may need to make your event a success. The great part about my venue is that it can be as hands-on as you want to be so that you keep costs low. This is a great solution for those who are creative and like to put that creativity to use. This option allows you to use sweat equity. However, we also have full VIP packages that allow us to put the whole event together for you including but not limited to decorations, backdrop, up-lighting, photography, videography, catering as well as DJ. So a customer has the unique option of picking and choosing how involved they want to be. We have the perfect choice for your next event.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has to be my grand opening of the event venue. It was a huge step to leap of faith that big. I was overwhelmed by the amount of support I received from everyone. I knew I had great family and friends but they completely showed up in every way to support me. I was even more surprised by the outpouring of support from complete strangers I had people who helped spread the word and refer my space event though they don’t know me personally! It is so amazing to see that there are people out there that can be happy for you and want to see you win just because you made the effort to do something great. I have been able to connect with so many people who encourage me constantly that it is going to be successful. In addition to this, my daughters have been able to witness this whole process and be very involved. It makes me so proud to know that they see the hard work and pride that comes with owning your own business. I am striving every day to be a great example for them.
