Today we’d like to introduce you to Vrushali Raikundalia and Rasakeli Shinde.
Vrushali and Rasakeli, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Vrushali: Our company is called Conscious Veda; the word Veda means knowledge.
Therefore, Conscious Veda is the knowledge of living a conscious, meaningful life.
Conscious Veda is about living consciously in all aspects of existence through the practices of Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, and more.
We are what we eat and what we think. Ayurveda in particular is a holistic medicine that incorporates diet, lifestyle, and meditation practices, in addition to medicine, that nurture the body, mind, and spirit all together.
I have been fascinated by Ayurveda and holistic healing since I was a child. My father would bring home books on Acupressure, Yoga, Ayurveda and I would devour them. I was enthralled by how Ayurveda could completely diagnose a person’s health just by monitoring the pulse. Growing up in India, Ayurveda was very commonplace and therefore not a very secure career option. Since financial stability was a priority, I chose to pursue technology as a career. Yet, my deep desire to learn Ayurveda remained and I continued to read books by various authors on the subject.
Finally in 2010, I came in contact with Vaidya Ramakant Mishra (Vaidya means Dr.) of SVA Ayurveda through my friend Rasakeli Shinde. He was introducing a Pulse and Marma therapy course that seemed to be the answer to all my questions! Vaidya Mishra comes from a family lineage of healers that have practiced Ayurveda for more than 5000 years. He had amazing insight to assimilate that knowledge and revise it to apply to current common, chronic, and serious ailments.
To an Ayurveda practitioner, the pulse speaks and tells us exactly what kind of imbalances are present in the body on a physical, physiological, and even emotional level. There are some key factors that play a major role in our Ayurvedic treatment.
– Food as medicine – Healthy grains, vegetables, legumes in the right combination with the right spices, the right unrefined, unprocessed fats, eaten at the right time can detox, heal and rejuvenate the body without any side-effects as are commonly found in Allopathic medicines.
– Optimal digestion – As per SVA Ayurveda, more important than what we eat is what we digest. Undigested food creates toxins that are the foundation of all inflammation and diseases in the body. Based on the power of digestion, the same food might be beneficial to one person and toxin-creating to the other. The pulse helps us to detect this and recommend diet guidelines that are unique to every individual.
– Liver health – Modern lifestyles are full of stress due to inadequate sleep, lack of proper relaxation, and unhealthy eating of processed, dead foods. This results in many people suffering from a toxic liver which is unable to assimilate nutrients from our food and detoxify. This is the reason why most detox regimens don’t work even though the person is eating healthy foods. In fact, we see many patients having detox crises such as rashes, allergies and increased inflammation. SVA Ayurveda has unique formulations that bypass the liver completely, resulting in amazing long term effects.
– Vibrational and Physical body – We have a vibrational body as well which receives “Prana” life force from the universe and circulates through all organs of the body.
(similar to the “Yin”, “Yang” in Chinese medicine). Communication between the physical and vibrational body is a vital aspect of health and therefore addressed through Marma therapy which incorporates herbs, aromatherapy, meditation, sound therapy and touch therapy.
– Etiological factor – Two persons having a headache are given the same medicine in Allopathy. But in Ayurveda, the pulse diagnosis and pertinent questions can help us to determine that one headache is because of a hangover and another is because of a skipped meal; thereby, the root cause is addressed rather than the symptom. We always strive to get a complete picture of the patient from the perspective of ancient principles and modern day factors. This aspect makes Ayurveda a truly holistic medicine that treats mind, body and consciousness in a holistic manner.
Rasakeli – I was very sick and had bad IBS and panic attack symptoms. I suffered for few months and did all kinds of exams and tests. Finally, I met an Ayurveda practitioner in LA. He looked at my pulse and gave me a strict simple diet to follow. I followed the diet for 15 days, and to my surprise, was cured without any medicines.
This experience gave me the conviction to start learning from him and practicing to help other people who suffer with many unknown or known illnesses. We learned and practiced from him for 3-4 years and completed an in-depth course on pulse evaluation and marma therapy. During and after our training we did a couple of sessions of marma therapy on friends and families and they loved it and felt much healthier. And thus, we started practicing and progressing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Vrushali: My journey of Ayurveda started with addressing my own health issues of thyroid, adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalances, etc. In the beginning, it was tough to make these diet and lifestyle changes such as no leftovers, no delaying meals, going to bed early, eating mindfully, etc. But as I experienced the immense changes in my physical and mental well-being, my conviction strengthened.
I also gained an in-depth knowledge of Ayurvedic cooking and so we are able to also offer Ayurvedic cooking classes to our patients along with health diagnosis, thereby presenting a complete treatment modality.
Rasakeli: It was very smooth; no struggles. However, I often struggle with some client’s mindsets, with them simply unable to follow a diet or follow regulations even if they are simple. During our training, Vaidya taught us that this is one of the sub doshas (imbalances) in which a person will agree to do everything and then not do it.
But as our practice grows, we evaluate such people immediately and give them step-by-step regimes instead of all at once.
Please tell us about Conscious Veda.
Vrushali: We specialize in healing all kinds of diseases such as Allergies, Autism, Diabetes, Heart issues and all female disorders. We are the only company in the DFW metroplex that offers ancient medicine as transdermal formulations. I am proud of the fact that in this fast-paced dog eat dog world, we give people an opportunity to learn to slow down, balance, harmonize and savor the true meaning of vibrant health!
Rasakeli: Conscious Veda is a Ayurvedic practice through which we work on people’s overall healing in numerous senses: mind, body, and consciousness. While people can heal the body through medicines and workout programs and the mind through meditation and yoga, not many people focus on healing their consciousness. We work on healing all three together. This approach helps people heal better and faster.
Our main aim is to utilize herbal strategies with strong emphasis on Marma therapy.
Marma is an ancient vedic way of healing and is very powerful.
