Meet Bridget McCray of Model P31 Services in Southeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget McCray.

Bridget, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After a sudden health situation arose, I sought to find a way to deal with it effectively without having to take medication. When I was growing up, I’d seen and heard of so many loved ones taking several medications daily. This was not something I desired to do, especially considering the potential side effects. I’d suffered with migraines and severe acne for more than 35 years and had tried “everything” to find cures, but to no avail. It had not occurred to me that diet and exercise would play such a pivotal part in my health.

I was blessed to become reacquainted with a lovely lady, whom I’d met several years earlier. Through a conversation in the spring of 2014, she felt she was supposed to help me with my diet. Unbeknowst to me at the time she was a certified personal trainer studying to become a Doctor of Naturopathy she taught me simple principles of how to make small, practical changes in my diet, in conjunction with regular exercise.

As a result of applying what she taught me, I lost 20 pounds and 10 inches from APR 2014 – SEP 2014, dropping from a size ten to a size six. My goal was NOT weight loss; however, it did happen as a result of improving my diet and being consistent with exercise and rest. In addition, I have not had a migraine since then AND my skin has drastically improved, stories not told by a scale.

In 2018, I had the honor of writing and publishing my first book, “H.E.A.L.T.H.: It’s Not Rocket Science (My Journey to a Healthier Me).” It is a tool to encourage others who may want to start a wellness journey of their own but feel like they don’t know where to start. In the book, I share “the good, the bad, and the ugly” from my personal journey in hopes that it will spark ideas to assist others in taking better care of their health. I want people to know that there is longevity in lifestyle eating. I am still a size 6 today, five years after the initial loss of weight & inches.

At the young age of almost 52, I would like to have the best possible quality of life to enjoy my family and to serve others. Paying attention to my health was one of the wisest decisions I’ve ever made. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road! Struggles?? Well, let’s see…
* How about coming home to find boxes of cookies, bought by a loved one to help the organization selling them, and the cookies are just calling out to you: “Eat me!”
* Or, how about going to work and there are pastries leftover from the morning meeting, and they’re just sitting on the table in the break room screaming your name
* Or, how about when your husband is trying to “bulk up”, building muscle the natural way, by eating “everything” and you’re trying to use your calories wisely
I could go on, but I’m sure you get the picture.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Model P31 Services gives me the opportunity to encourage others especially women regarding their physical health as well as their emotional and spiritual health. We are more than just physical beings. Therefore, it is important to care for the whole person. Women, especially those of us who are mothers, tend to put ourselves on the “back burner,” not fully understanding that we also need to take care of ourselves to be effective in taking care of others.

It is so fulfilling when I can see the proverbial light bulb turn on for a client. What she does will not only impact her, but also her immediate family and, potentially, generations to come. That’s a big deal!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In my humble opinion, success is being able to use my God-given gifts to help make someone else’s life better. Each of the goals I set is with the idea in mind that I desire to help improve others’ lives in some way.
