Meet Erica LeDee of Taste My Roots in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica LeDee.

Erica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My business pretty much started out of necessity because me and my roommates were broke college students. Even after college, my passion for cooking never went away and I continued to work on my craft and explored different recipes. Eventually, I began posting my meals on Instagram and followers would always comment and inquire about various recipes I was using. All of this positive feedback eventually inspired me to take a leap of faith and start a cooking business. Taste My Roots was born and its services include but are not limited to: teaching classes, personal cooking, meal preps, and catering to the Dallas area.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been smooth for the most part; I honestly can’t complain. My family and clients have made this business journey amazing!

Please tell us about business.
Taste My Roots is a catering business which specializes in southern Creole staples such as Seafood Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, and Jambalaya. It is known for authentic cuisines that were handed down from generations within my family which is of Creole descent. I am proud to offer Dallas and local areas authentic Southwestern Louisiana food. As a local within North Dallas it is difficult to find flavorful home cooked Louisiana food which sets Taste My Roots apart from others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by providing quality food that people enjoy and come back for. Ultimately, I hope that Taste My Roots gains worldwide notoriety.
