Meet Sunni Rain aka The Artist Dub

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunni Rain aka The Artist Dub.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sunni. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.

I have always been an artsy person. Art comes naturally to me and I love it! I have been writing, drawing and painting since I was a young child. Throughout school, I received numerous awards. I wrote my novel book over a year ago to spread autism awareness. I am a special needs mom with a son who has autism. unfortunately, even though autism is more common today, it has been a journey for us a lot of times to go out in public because there are people who don’t understand or who are rude with the stares and disappropriate comments sometimes. However, it never stopped us because my son deserves happiness. I figured that I would write a book to give others a glimpse of what a special needs person and family goes through on a daily basis and hopefully change the way others are treated and the way people treat others. From there, “After Winter Must Come Spring” was penned and self-published by myself. Since then, I have been doing numerous book signings throughout the Dallas Metroplex area. It is also available for sale on Amazon and my publishing website

This year, I started back painting. It has been very therapeutic for me. Painting is something that makes me happy. There is a feeling of relaxation when I am creating art on canvas. My paintings were recently chosen to be a part of The Chocolate & Art Show in Dallas and are for sale on my Instagram and art website. I will be working with the South Dallas Cultural Center on some art projects as well. I am also a lover of nature!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but not a difficult one. it is a blessing. Being that I am an introvert, I have a hard time networking, but you have to get out there and meet other people and get your work noticed. You must balance motherhood, taking care of yourself, and work to maintain your wellness. The keyword is “balance.” You have to keep pushing forward and have faith!

Please tell us about your business.
My two businesses are Alkaline Nature Publishing and Designs by Dub. At Alkaline Nature Publishing, I offer publishing, book writing, and advice to others that are interested in publishing their own book. With Designs by Dub, I sell my artwork on canvas, prints, posters and tees. I do custom paintings for others and I also sell hand-crafted house decor. What sets me apart from others is that I am very creative, everything is self-made and I make sure that my customers are treated well.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would definitely have started selling my art more soon.
