Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Agamennone.
Brandon, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began Pro Source in 2008 as a way to teach kids about life through baseball. My background is as a college and professional baseball player and now a Major League scout. I wanted to use that knowledge to help teach players the right way to play the game and set high standards for GPA, as well as community service which we were given the highest national honor in 2010 for our community service and to help them get to college.
It has not been an easy ride but well worth it. Our program spread through word of mouth and relationships in the baseball community.
We have now had 109 graduates from our program and 101 that have gotten college baseball opportunities and have had 5 former players who have gotten professional contracts. Our organization GPA is right at 3.1 as a whole from ages 9U-18U and over 200 players.
We also have done some unique off the field programs including helping to build a homeless shelter playground in Dallas, doing local park clean ups, international mission trips and serving meals through Meals on Wheels and participating in Toys for Tots.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not smooth at all. When I started the program, I had taken about $50k to start it and I went through a divorce that I didn’t know was coming and it took everything so I had to start over at the bottom and borrow money from individuals because I had no income and no credit to speak of. We had some really bad situations where our old landlord kicked us out to start the same business as us and many people who did not pay their tuition so we learned a lot about business practices and growing too fast.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pro Source Athletics – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We have youth baseball teams and are a sport-specific strength, speed and agility business as well as a custom wood bat company. We specialize in baseball lessons and baseball teams and college recruiting. We are most well knows for our college recruiting aspect as the national avg. is about 11% and our success rate is over 93% but the bats are starting to come along as well.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
