Today we’d like to introduce you to Deandria Block.
Deandria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became an entrepreneur with this company because I wanted to change people’s lives. I realized how little people in my generation valued their lives. I wanted to be apart of an industry that provided value to me as well as others. As a life insurance agent, I talk to plenty of people who tell me they don’t need life insurance. When I hear that it makes me cringe because what will your kids or spouse do without you? Will they really survive without you? What will their lives look like? That’s what I think when I hear “I don’t need life insurance”.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have great mentors in our company so it makes it pretty smooth to succeed in our company. The most challenging part of my industry is watching someone you love or tried to help struggle after losing a loved one.
Please tell us about your work.
I work with a Broker company that strives on helping everyone protect their families. We love the competition and competitive people. I am one of the individuals who help people get licensed in our company. In order to do anything with Texas insurance, you must be licensed. My main goal is to make sure I can help people get that completed. While being a personal assistant to one of the top directors in the DFW, I help him make a difference in people’s lives as well. A proud moment I have with my company was our annual convention this year. We had Kobe Bryant as one of our keynote speakers, along with former President George Bush. I was able to take a great picture of Kobe Bryant. I personally love Kobe Bryant because he is a businessman and having the opportunity to meet him was great.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would put my head down and work harder. I wouldn’t let the things in my life that have always held me back keep holding me back. I faced challenges in my life starting a business that I never faced before, but I had to think I’ve never been an entrepreneur before. I had to self develop more and if I would’ve done it sooner, it would’ve made a bigger difference in my life.
