Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Worley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always loved art. I started drawing at a very young age. As I got older I started dabbling in other forms of art including acrylic painting, makeup, and then eventually led me to face and body painting. I discovered a Youtuber that shares the same art techniques as I do so I binge-watched all of her videos and decided that is what I wanted to do. So I bought my first palette of body paint and started painting my face. I would sit in front of a mirror for 2-3 hours at a time just learning how to blend the paint, how to utilize eye shadows for shading and highlighting. I eventually started posting my art to social media and got a flood of messages asking me to do their Halloween makeup, or come to their children’s birthday parties. And that’s what led me here, today, booking Halloween appointments, birthday parties, and just for fun.
Has it been a smooth road?
As far as the painting aspect of my life, it has been pretty smooth. Painting sort of fell into my lap and I found out I was very good at it. That is not to say that there were no struggles along the way. I am my biggest critic so the biggest struggle I’ve had to overcome is to believe in myself and my ability to create amazing art. Finding time to sit down and paint for 2-4 hours is also a struggle. I have a 3-year-old who keeps me busy.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I am a face and body painter specializing in Halloween looks and children’s birthday parties. I am different than most face and body artists because I am patient, creative and detail-oriented. I take my time to ensure that the longer you look at the paint, the more detail you see. What I do is like no other and I believe pictures of my art speaks for itself. I am most proud of the smiles on my client’s faces once they look in the mirror for the first time. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment and reassurance. I love to be able to camouflage my clients face so not even their family can recognize them under the painting, they make the character come to life.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is the perfect place for businesses like me. Especially around Halloween. I would recommend someone starting out in Dallas. I feel like there is a large volume of people who love art and creativity and are always wanting to dress up for comic-con, Halloween parties, even birthday parties.
