Meet Tarrance Johnson of Friday Night Glory in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarrance Johnson.

Tarrance, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I attended American Broadcasting in 2011 to pick back up on some basics of broadcasting that I needed to brush up on since being away from college. I always wanted to be a color analyst that covered football and starting at the HS level was big for me. In 2012, I worked for a network as a color analyst and sideline reporter which covered Frisco ISD Schools, my weekends were full on Saturdays, I produce a show and ran the boards from 9-midnight for a show Called CYBER-LINE for another network which was mostly talking about technology. I would walk away from both after three years and the following year 2014, I was not in the field of broadcasting after sitting out so, by 2015, I was back up and running again yet with another network as a color analyst for HS Football which covered a school called Trophy Club Byron Nelson. The journey never stopped after that contract was up, immediately in 2016, I started with Friday Night Glory which was a little different now because I was doing post-game interviews as a reporter and FNG covered a wide part of DFW High School Football as well as baseball, softball, basketball, 7v7, and Football Camps.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a very bumpy road being little fish in a big pond in this market, it takes a lot of hustle and grind and sales to gain sponsorship with FNG, we’ve managed well over the years having interns in training, it helps with the production of videos, live streams, and social media sites as well as giving them on the job training. It is our goal to give our interns a leg up when competing for jobs by gaining real experience in sports production.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Friday Night Glory™ is a production company that chronicles high school sports through live and recorded webcasts of games, Podcasts, interviews with coaches and players, as well as articles and photos. We provide live webcast media, on-demand media, and promotion services to the high school sports universe.

www.fridaynightglory.com provides a platform to webcast and record high school sports events for both live real-time and later re-broadcast.

Our service includes the ability to maintain an on-demand archive of previously broadcast content and additional content not available to stream live such as interviews, highlight reels, team/booster event videos, photographs, and blog content. In addition, our services can be used to promote games and events for the teams through social media, email, and viral/word of mouth marketing. We integrate all of these services into a secure online portal accessible to students, coaches, administrators, boosters, alumni and family.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If we’re speaking on the business being a success for me would be being informative and keeping the attention of listeners by being on point with news that we deliver, if we fail at that, I don’t think we would be very successful at it what we’re trying to accomplish.
