Meet Jeanine Roddy of Frisco Feeding & Speech Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Roddy.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Some people fall into their careers letting circumstances guide the way; others choose their career path by following their passion. For me, becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist was a conscious choice.

My career began in the business world. It didn’t take me long to realize the business industry was not personally fulfilling. At which point, I began volunteering at a local children’s hospital working with children with a variety of speech and language disorders. I knew immediately I had found my passion. For the past 11 years, I have been fortunate to be in the group people who love their jobs.

Prior to opening my private practice, I was the Pediatric Rehabilitation, Feeding Clinic Coordinator for the largest Autism provider in Minnesota. This position gave me opportunities to mentor and train a multidisciplinary therapy team. I also presented at professional conferences on my clinical focus in Childhood Apraxia of Speech and pediatric feeding disorder.

After relocating to Texas, I realized there was a huge need for skilled pediatric therapy in Frisco and surrounding area, which led me to opening my practice, Frisco Feeding & Speech Therapy.

Has it been a smooth road?
Opening a private practice in the fastest growing city in the nation has led to the large need for a wide variety of community services, including pediatric speech and feeding therapists. One of our challenges has been keeping ahead of the demand. Fortunately, we recently expanded into a new office space with four treatment rooms, including motor gym.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Frisco Feeding & Speech Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I have focused on pediatric speech, language, and feeding disorders for over ten years. My professional specialization is in the areas of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and pediatric feeding disorders.

Being an exceptional therapist takes more than just knowing the diagnostic characteristics and therapeutic intervention tools. It takes skill and expertise to be able to apply clinical knowledge while connecting with the child, identifying motivators, and making therapy fun. I strive to bring strong mentorship and a collaborative environment at my practice to ensure all our therapists deliver high qualify intervention.

A one-style fits all treatment approach rarely results in any measurable progress. My clinic is founded on the principle of delivering evidenced-based therapy. This ensures our clients receive treatment supported by current research. No two children are exactly alike. Therefore, treatment should reflect the unique strengths and needs of each child. I pursue ongoing professional education to gain expertise in a variety of treatment modalities, so each child’s treatment is tailored for their success.

One highlight of my career was receiving the following note from a mom who had been told her son would never speak by their previous speech therapist:

“Where do I begin? How do you thank someone who has given their son a voice? You are an angel and we are so glad to have found you. Thank you for believing in our son – it means the world to us.”
