Meet Angie Mccomb of SolarGirlTx for RisingSun Solar in Metroplex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Mccomb.

Angie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I owned a mobile spray tanning business in Las Vegas and I got the opportunity to join Tesla, which was SolarCity back then. I excelled in the Field Energy Specialist position very quickly and was promoted within two months to Field Energy Consultant. I was number #11 in the Country out fo 5600 representatives and I loved my job! Unfortunately, the Las Vegas market was shut down and we were no longer allowed to sell solar in that market. I was then offered the right to transfer to another market, and I picked Dallas, I picked Dallas because my Mother and the rest of my family were in here. Once I got to Dallas, I quickly realized that Tesla wasn’t where I needed to be and ventured out as a consultant and SolarGirlTx was born. I am happy to say that I have been saving Texas one rooftop at a time since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It took me a minute to get allocated to the Texas market. Texas has a deregulated market. which is different than the Las Vegas market. I had to learn things outside the scope of what I learned in Tesla’s “bootcamp” and had to start figuring out solar system sizes and all the variances that came along with it without the help of a computer doing it for me. I had a bit of a learning curve but quickly adapted. It didn’t take long for me to become the top producing representative at any company I consulted for.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a Senior Energy Consultant for RisingSun Solar. RisingSun Solar was born in 2015 and has locations in Kansas City, Houston, and Dallas. We specialize in residential solar installations and our differentiator is that we take a consultative approach with each homeowner and we custom tailor each package to their individual needs. We also make sure it makes sense financially for each and every home we visit.

It is hard to pick one thing we’re most proud of because we’ve been fortunate to have received a lot of accolades over the past four years and have a staff that we feel is second to none. We have developed a culture that is incredibly family orientated and takes so much pride in helping families each and every day, so I would say that we are most proud of that as a company, if I had to pick. Our staff, all have the vision to change the world one rooftop at a time. We are making a footprint with every panel that we install.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe success comes from happy homeowners, who have had an amazing experience from the time they initially met with me to months after the install when they’re referring their family and friends to me. We take pride in the entire customer experience, and I personally take so much pride in making sure that every homeowner I help knows I will be with them every step of the way. They know if they ever need anything they can reach out to me at any time. I have made life long friends whom I met installing solar on their home. The relationship aspect of this job is what is important to me.
