Meet Michele Cragun of DFW Granite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Cragun.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michele. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have 20 plus years of construction knowledge and expertise. That extensive knowledge ranges from full home additions, kitchen remodeling, home repair, stages, processes and preparation, hardwood flooring installation and refinishing, hardwood stair installation and refinishing, interior and exterior painting, tile flooring and kitchen backsplash installation, bathroom remodeling and frameless showers, kitchen cabinet build and remodeling, roofing. In time, I have owned and operated a National Franchise painting company through Certa ProPainters in two north Dallas territories. Bought out a prominent hardwood company who ran several crews a week furnishing most of the major flooring companies and home builders in the metroplex with new hardwood flooring and residential hardwood refinishing. I myself have been a laborer, painting in residential homes, hardwood flooring repairs, installation of tile, backsplashes, trim installation. About 12 years ago I purchased equipment for a granite fabrication shop and that started me in that business. To this day I prefer to do kitchen and bathroom remodeling overall which include the countertops and can include cabinetry, etc. Still do some flooring both in hardwoods and tile.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. You’re always learning about new products, changes in the industry, dealing with different types of customers. I am very organized and methodical person so it comes in handy when putting together a job. I pretty much run everything in a certain fashion which helps myself, my workers and my customers have an understanding of what to do, what to expect along the way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DFW Granite – what should we know?
DFW Granite is a stone countertop fabrication company. We specialize in being highly skilled in the cutting, fabrication and installation of most all of the different types of stone countertops whether natural or engineered types available today. It takes a certain type of skill to be able to map out variations in the stone and make the outcome for the customer’s layout a beautiful one, one that is consistent and appears seamless. The weight of the stone is another aspect, if you’re not skilled in handling it could be very dangerous to handle and work with. I take a lot of joy in being able to deliver to customers all over the knowledge I have in the industry I’m familiar with, helping them move along in a world they may not be so adapted to or want to be adapted to. I like to be very upfront and honest in all my dealings and communicate effectively all the way through a project with each of my customers so they can always say I gave them knowledge of their product, their job expectations and how everything could turn out.

I’m best known for having my process down, orchestrating a highly organized organization from myself to my workers and having highly trained workers carrying out the jobs. This sets me apart from many others even direct competitors because they don’t always carry out communication from start to finish on every job.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My whole team from my assistant Shirley who takes all the calls during the work week, answering and getting back to clients on a timely basis to my workers who carry out the workload with craftmanship, respect of my customers and delivering a job timely and beautifully.
