Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharina Smith.
Sharina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
About a year and a half ago after prepping for a while for my own family and making the contemplating the decision to step away from Corporate America, I started a meal prep business. It started just like a small test event where I provided the service and clients provided the groceries that quickly grew to a full-on meal prep service. We now offer over 15 menu items.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It would be nice to say it’s been smooth, maybe it gets smoothed out along the way. It’s been a journey full of ups and downs. Lots of lessons and growth opportunities for sure. Learning how to count calories for clients, finding my niche, transitioning from an employee mind to entrepreneur, learning how to do be everything to your business as a sole owner, finding resources outside of a school to learn. Lots of struggles but I’ve learned when you endure them you get stronger.
Please tell us about your business.
So excited to share! We’re a clean eating meal prep company in the southern part of Dallas. I like to say we’re the next Snap Kitchen in the south of Dallas. We’re known for bringing flavorful but super clean meals to our clients. We use fresh and never frozen ingredients, so much so that I don’t even have a commercial freezer. I’m most proud of our mission as a company: “To feed the whole man”. A huge goal of our company is to be able to take a portion of all sales and pour that back into feeding the homeless community of Downtown Dallas. We feed them right across the street from the last corporate job I had. It’s pretty special to me. What sets us apart is that we truly care about the wellness of our clients. We believe in the importance of taking care of the one body God gave us and the biggest part to that is fueling it with clean and healthy foods.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over I would have done a little more research into starting a small business. There is so much that most small businesses do not know which cause them to fail.
