Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Kim.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I never thought I would become a real estate agent. I was always drawn to science and thought I would work in the health care industry one day. After getting married and becoming a mother, I put all my career goals aside and became a stay-at-home mom for a few years. When my husband decided to get into real estate investing (he has always had a passion for real estate), he asked me one day if I wanted to get my license. After a few years of staying at home and watching my kids grow, I was excited to start something for myself. What started off as a way to help my husband, turned into an unexpected career path. It has been a great way to meet new people and reconnect with friends.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are talking about real estate. Haha. There has definitely been some bumps along the way, but that is my job to make transactions as smooth as possible. I would say my biggest struggle starting out was not knowing who to ask for help. Real estate school does not teach you how to succeed, so it’s important to find a mentor who can guide you. Also, surrounding yourself with inspirational people who motivate you to be your best self. I am very blessed that my husband is my biggest cheerleader and motivator.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am currently a realtor with JP & Associates REALTORS. I work with residential and commercial clients, but my specialty is with investment properties. As investors ourselves, I enjoy helping my clients receive passive income. I take pride in my dedication to my clients and making sure they get what they want. I recently had a client with a certain criteria for a building that was very difficult to find, so I called and emailed many brokers and reached out to building owners asking if they were interested in selling to find the perfect building for him. What sets me apart is my determination to deliver my clients’ wants and needs. They know that I am working hard to keep them up-to-date and well informed.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I would say most people growing up with immigrant parents would agree that we watched our parents struggle and work hard. I have watched my parents and other low-class families generously give to each other in times of need. It is all about helping one another and I believe that my desire to help my clients has really contributed to my success.
