Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaleb Carter.
Kaleb, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since a young boy, I have always loved art. I would excel in art class every year. It wasn’t just drawing either, I was good at every aspect. I love to draw, paint, sculpt, and build. Around 6th grade, I would always watch YouTube videos of people customizing shoes. I watched it when I had got bored or even just because. I found it so interesting that I wanted to try it on my own. At first, I would find spray paint cans around the house and sprayed my shoes. I even asked my friends did they have spray paint. Everybody used to ask me where’d I get my shoes and I told them that I made them. In 7th grade is when I started to get more serious about it. I bought a couple of colors off of angelusdirect.com to get started. That’s the website where you get the real shoe paint from. I remember I did me a pair of Nike Cortez and a pair of Air Force 1s. That’s when people started to ask me for prices. I looked at it as a good and quick way of income. Ever since then, I’ve been customizing people’s shoes to exactly how they want them. Now, it is one of my main hobbies other than running track. Everyone at my school knows that I customize shoes, and every time they need some done, they hit me up. I recently started customizing jackets and jeans also. I’m trying to expand and soon I will be painting on any canvas.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s mostly been smooth. I’ve never disappointed a customer.
Runlikekaleb – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I customize shoes and clothing. I’m known for doing artwork that “stands out”. I’m proud of being able to get my own income by having to get a job. I’m different from others because I am destined to be great at this.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Recently, someone shipped me some shoes to do. That was the first time ever
