Meet Kristina Garcia of Little Fish Soaps in San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Garcia.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our company started a little after my son was born. Being a first-time mom I was very concerned about my son’s sensitive skin. We tried so many different soaps and body washes nothing really seemed to help. I finally decided I was going to try and make a soap for him to use. My idea was to create a soap as natural as I could using minimal ingredients and it turned out great! His skin was so much better and I fell in love with the craft of making soap. Making soap allows me to be creative and provide a product people can feel good about using.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been the easiest road, I stay very busy. I am a stay at home mom, I work part-time from home, and I’m trying to grow my soap business. I’m extremely blessed though I have a fantastic husband who is my sidekick as well as a bath bomb molder, soap cutter, ingredients stocker basically whatever I need help with he’s there ready to get it done. Every day we learn something new and we love it!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Little Fish Soaps story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in small-batch handmade soaps and bath bombs. We try to make everything with the best ingredients we can find and always try to keep in mind what is great for your skin. We try to use ethically sourced sustainable oils. We also use biodegradable glitters. We also try to give back to our community by donating 100% of the proceeds of our Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line soaps to The 100 Club of San Antonio. The 100 club of San Antonio is an organization devoted to helping families of Fallen Law Enforcement and Firefighters. What makes us most proud is knowing that we made something people like to use. That we made something that not only looks good but is good for you and you can feel good about using.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My husband and I were blessed to welcome our son last year, which opened our eyes to the realization that the quality of soap can be harsh on some babies. This drove me to find a solution….and Little Fish Soaps was it! So to answer the question a little bit of both…babies having super sensitive skin bad luck, but needing to find a solution and making Little Fish Soaps good luck!
