Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabina Kearse.
Sabina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2016, I decided to take my love for food and share it with the world.
I was in Arizona that year and kept looking for places to eat and looking at pictures to see if any of the “recommended” restaurants actually looked good to try.
I noticed I’m someone who is constantly taking pictures, especially pictures of my food. So, while in Arizona, I had this idea to create an Instagram account to share food I had tried.
I had no idea that my passion for food would become a calling for me to share. That same year, I was nominated for D Magazine’s “Best Of” and won the Reader’s Choice award for “Best Twitterer” in regards to my food blog.
Formally known as FingerLickenGood, I changed my brand name to BinaBites in 2017.
My goal is to share food I have tried at restaurants and hope that when you see my pictures, you want to try them too!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to success will always have paths of struggle and doubt. Along my journey, I have struggled with branding and at times, confidence. You can easily get caught up in what other foodies are doing and get sidetracked on what you want to share.
Staying true to what I believe for BinaBites has been something I had to remind myself along the way. I’m a food photographer/influencer/ business owner. It isn’t easy but keeping the drive to stay motivated is something I have to remind myself – I am sharing my love with the world.
As a young woman, my advice to other women who are starting their journey would be to stay true to yourself and your calling. Doing what you are passionate about will seep through your work and people will see that. Have a support system that will steer you back on track and most importantly, give your self a break every now and again.
We’d love to hear more about BinaBites.
I am a food photographer who loves to share what I have eaten at restaurants. What you see is what you will get when you order, this is what sets me apart.
I take pride knowing that when you see my pictures, you will think, “I want to try that” or “that would be perfect for date night” to even people asking me what I rated on the meal I had.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well-positioned for?
In an industry of photography, there are plenty of opportunities for women to build a business and succeed.
Being your own boss and seeing your vision come to life, in any field of work, is something any and every woman can do.
