Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kathy Ferrell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Ferrell. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a native Texan, growing up in Ft. Worth. I attended college in Texas.
I started my career as an elementary teacher, teaching Special Education to students in 1st through 3rd grade. After my daughter was born, I decided to stay home and be a mom. That didn’t last long. I quickly became the Director of a Pre-school and all three of my children attended with me. After eleven years, I decided to get back into teaching. I was hired at Pantego Christian Academy to start a program called Learning lab, which is a program for students with learning differences. I have been at PCA since 2011. I became the Middle School Principal, then Elementary principal, and now interim Head of School.
Received Masters in Special Education, 1999 for UNT.
Doctorate in Educational Administration in 2015 from Texas A&M Commerce.
I have been married to my husband, Shane, for 25 years and have three beautiful children.
My oldest daughter, Blair, is attending Texas A&M.
My middle daughter, Caroline, attends nursing school at UTA and my son, Cooper is in high school.
My husband and my children are my greatest blessings!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been smooth. Educators are not in it to be rich. My husband worked two jobs for many years to support our family so I could live my dream.
Please tell us about Pantego Christian Academy.
Pantego Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Arlington and Mansfield. We have been open for over 50 years.
A deep Christian school experience is our fundamental commitment at PCA, so that each and every day your child, even your family, is immersed in sound Biblical teaching, mentoring and dynamic spiritual growth.
Our students study the Word, help each other grow and put their faith into action through mission trips and meaningful service to the community while growing toward a faith that is truly their own for a lifetime.
Pantego Christian Academy was started in 1963 by Pantego Bible Church on a 7-acre site between Arlington and Pantego to fulfill the desire of some of the church members for a Christian kindergarten for their children.
Since that time, Pantego Christian Academy has established itself as a premier Christian private school. In 1997, the school became an independent school, purchasing the Pantego Bible Church facilities for its use while the church built facilities at a new location.
God’s leading has been evident from the first kindergarten classroom to becoming the college preparatory Christian school we are today. The legacy of Christian education from those early days is blessing a new generation today and preparing to bless future generations as His plan for His school continues to unfold.
