Conversations with the Inspiring Kellie Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Ford.

Kellie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Throughout my life, I have always had a love for sports and fitness. I always participated in sports growing up and it was always something my parents encouraged and what I looked forward to on a daily basis throughout my childhood and teenage years. Whenever I got to college (Texas Tech University), I continued to work out off and on, but I allowed partying and the opinions of others to control and manipulate my life. It wasn’t until the end of my second year of school at Tech that I truly realized the stress others and I were putting on my body, not only physically, but also mentally.

After hitting an extreme breaking point and reaching an all-time low, I removed the toxic people from my life and turned to health and fitness to make me feel whole again. As I was turning fitness into an everyday priority, I started being asked what types of workouts I was doing to achieve my results. As much as I love seeing my own personal results, I realized I loved helping people reach their own fitness goals even more. I decided I would love nothing more than to help change the lives of as many people as I possibly can, which brings me to why I decided to create a fitness website with workouts that I have personally seen results from and yummy, healthy recipes to go along with it. I know there are others that have once felt the way I did and let me tell you how much grasping hold of your wellbeing through health and fitness can impact your self-worth and positive self-image. It was not long after I realized my love for helping others in their fitness journey that I became certified as a Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise program. It was fitness that transformed my life for the better and has helped me (and is continuing to help me every day) reach the best me I can be. Men and women, especially in today’s society, have a constant inner battle with self-acceptance. Although I have come to notice positive self-image takes time, inner growth and sometimes extreme circumstances, fitness to me has truly encouraged this positive transformation.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting and progressing through a fitness journey is not always a smooth road. There has definitely been a few bumps in the road. Life will always throw unexpected curve balls your way, but it is how you react and grow through those circumstances, instead of letting them control every aspect of your life. A struggle for me has always been the peer pressure to go out, whether to eat or drink and choosing unhealthy options when I do so. Having self-discipline is so important to reaching your fitness goals. For young women just starting a fitness journey, find what is best for YOU. With fitness models always posting what workouts they do or what they like to eat, sometimes it can be easy to do what they do and expect to get the same results. It definitely does not work that way. Find workouts and healthy foods YOU love to do/eat and it will be 100x easier to stick to a plan. Also, just enjoy the process and stay consistent and I promise your results will follow.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Online Health Coach. I train mainly women one on one independently. Also, I create customized meal and workout plans that are SPECIFIC to each individual that reaches out to me. I believe this sets me apart from other online trainers because many just sell one or two meal plans or workout guides, whereas I have each client fill out and return a questionnaire with their previous food/workout history, injuries, what their goals are, etc. and create plans from that information.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My mother because she has always taught me to reach for the stars in every aspect of life, teaching me that I can do anything I set my mind to, while also giving her honest opinions in any ideas I may have. She is a constant in my life and I would not be where I am without her. As basic as it sounds… Kylie Jenner is another boss babe that has inspired me because of her constant work ethic to get to the top of her industry.
