Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherie Mckinney.
Cherie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my business seven months ago. I always had a passion for fashion. People would always compliment me on my style and how I stand out from the rest. My mom told me I started dressing myself as early as three years. I would tell her what I did & didn’t want to wear, lol, I also started doing wardrobe styling. I’ve done a few fashion shows too. So, one day, I woke up and decided to start my own online boutique to bring my visions and style to life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road in the beginning. As time went on, I had to learn patience. It takes a lot of patience & dedication to run a business. I’m also a lil shy so I really had to step out of my comfort zone and really get out there, meet people and network.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rhyan’s House of Fashion story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is Rhyan’s House of Fashion. It’s an online boutique where I offer different types of styles from clothing, shoes and accessories for all sizes small-3x. My business is named after my daughter who passed away at 5 years old in 2014. She also loved fashion & I named my company after her to keep her name alive and something I’m sure she is proud of me doing. I’m most proud of where I started to now. I’m proud of my strength to keep going despite everything I’ve been through. I’m getting my business out more given the fact I’ve only been in the Dallas area for four years now. I think my boutique stands out from the rest because it’s actually my visions and styles that I would wear. I believe my pieces are different and I’m a true believer in standing out from the rest and never blending in.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly don’t believe in luck but I’m a true believer in faith. I believe if you keep your faith and walk in your purpose, you will be blessed. There is nothing you can’t do with God on your side.
