Meet Trailblazer Kailey Francisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kailey Francisco.

Kailey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After college, I was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and started taking my passions and turning them into businesses. My first step was opening up my design business, Earth Entwine! As an artist, this was a huge deal for me to be able to sell my art and start a business creating special handmade goods for people’s homes and events. This later led me to get my certification in event design where I dove into the wedding niche. Being in the event business required me to network and grow my brand in a way that I soon grew to really love!

Simultaneously, I was growing a closet on Poshmark to make extra money on the side. Little did I know, that it was going to be my next business venture! My husband, Johnny, and I put our heads together and brought our Poshmark business to the next level with opening up Thread Heads Apparel.

With my hand in multiple avenues and networks, it got me thinking of how I could bring everything into one portal. I wanted to create a space where people could get inspired, have questions answered, and shop from us! Thus, The Bloggery was born!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Getting to the point where I am at today has not been a simple process. I don’t think growing a brand is something that is ever going to be simple. It takes a lot of work, research, and self-awareness. The kind of self-awareness that takes time and effort to trust and understand. One of the biggest things I struggled with in the beginning was my focus. Having the mind of an artist can be beautiful but also super annoying at times! It can definitely get in the way of the business side of my brain.

There’s a huge side of me that just wanted to create and build and get paid to keep my head in my art, but that’s not how it works. Not when YOU’RE the one growing the business. There were many times I had to do the parts I didn’t want to do- like keep up with books and numbers and inventory sheets yada yada. You have to be ready to take on all sides of what comes with growing a business or else you will not grow.

My advice is to ask for help, be patient with yourself, and don’t get TOO inspired. Social media was my textbook but also my enemy in the beginning. I needed to stay in the know of what were the latest topics and learn from other people, but I also found myself feeling rushed at times. I would get super inspired by another blogger but then quickly compare myself and feel like my progress was taking forever. Sometimes, it would make me doubt myself altogether. So, keep the “inspo” at a healthy level!

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I specialize, in what I like to call, “designing life”. There is creativity behind literally everything I do. It’s just how God made me! Everything from wardrobe to home and events is an opportunity for me to bring something to life. I take pride in being known for having the ability to uncover the ideas and visions of those around me and executing them! It brings me so much joy to produce not just handmade goods but also vibes. I believe that true intentional design brings forth an environment, an atmosphere, a vibe. When you feel the entire space move with you, you know you are creating something!

Some of the specific services I specialize in are calligraphy, macrame and fiber arts, watercolor, photography, feng shui, event design, and closet consulting.

I believe what sets me apart is my inability to stop. I literally cannot stop making and creating. It is what I know, it is my language I speak to the world. I think that makes me a trustworthy artist and businesswoman to team up with!

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
My whole life, I was a performer. I danced, acted and dragged my parents to every audition I could get to after school. Sometimes, even during school (thanks Mom). This allowed me to grow up with a sense of self because I was doing what I loved, but it also allowed me to grow up with the idea that you never give up. When a kid learns at a young age that you have to hear 50 nos before you hear 1 yes, they tend to have a better understanding of how hard you have to fight for what you want in life. It gives you a thick skin too.
