Meet Juan Ojeda of OJUICE FILMS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Ojeda.

Juan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The journey to this point in my life hasn’t been easy. I began my journey in this industry about two years ago, but this year I’ve really seen my efforts and hard work begin to pay off. I worked a dead-end job for almost a decade.

While working full-time, I was also pursuing my education, a business degree. I’ve always considered myself an entrepreneur. From my younger years, I knew that one day I would establish my own business and that I’d be successful. While I didn’t have a lot a choice or support in the earlier part of my life, I knew that when the moment came I would take a step in a different direction and take control of my life.

After switching universities and hitting some bumps in the road I knew that business was probably not the best choice for me to pursue. It was then that I chose to pursue a Film, TV, and Digital Media degree. The thought of creating films and content for myself and/or potential clients made me excited; I am now in control of MY life!

My family’s hardworking values, that were instilled in me from a very young age, are now paying dividends. Whether that was selling food on the weekends with my mom, working with a family friend at their shoe store, or mowing lawns, I knew what it took to earn it. The grind has been real!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I first decided to initiate this new endeavor, there were so many questions and so much doubt that flooded my mind. These mental roadblocks were the first to arise and the toughest to break down. Other issues along the way included not having the best gear or the money to purchase the gear that I knew would improve the quality of my work.

Some other challenges included learning new editing software, different cameras, how to market myself, and learning how to place a value on my work. The learning curve has definitely been steep, but it is not one that can’t be climbed.

My biggest challenge was being afraid to ask others for help. We all need it and the sooner we realize that we need it, the faster we’ll be able to continue to pursue our happiness and perfecting our craft.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own OJUICE FILMS and I specialize in filmmaking, digital media, and digital marketing. I create content for small businesses, weddings & quinceañeras, and commercial brands throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. I also specialize in photography when I am not shooting videography. While it is still young at heart, the vision is clear and I know where I want to take this business in this upcoming year.

I am most proud of the growth I have incurred this year and the relationships that I’ve established with clients and others in the industry. These rewards go beyond any monetary compensation!

I believe the relationships I’ve built with my clients have brought me this far in such a short time. The treatment you give others will be reciprocated towards you.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife, Elizabeth, encouraged me to quit my full-time job a month after we got married so that I could attend school as a full-time student. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have taken the plunge and switched majors or be here running my small business. She’s been my backbone and motivation throughout this entire experience.

My mom, Veronica, who from an early age showed me the value of hard work and where it could take me. The discipline and resilience she instilled in me have helped carry me through the highs and lows.

My siblings, Jr., Maria, and Jesus. They’re my motivation to continue to be a role model. My hope is that they know their big brother is always here for them as they find their own path in life.

My professors within the Film, TV, and Digital Media department at TCU – I can’t thank them enough. Additionally, my friends and mentors within TCU Athletics who helped me learn and grow as a creative; TCU football laid the foundation for me and my profession.

Lastly, my friends within the industry who motivate me with their grind and success: Rick Davila, Films by Jaime, Mindfully Executed, Ariel Leon Films, and Agape Filmworks.
