Meet Steve A. Klein of Professional Development Center and PlayMakers Talk Show in Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve A. Klein.

Steve, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a Texan by choice! I began to move through the Midwest and got to Dallas as quick as I could!

After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a double major of Speech Communications – Radio/TV/Film & Journalism – News Broadcasting I spent two months looking for a job by phone and mail (there was no internet back then).

I was hired by KHAS Radio in Hastings NE as the News Director (population: 20,000) and was told that “I had a face for radio!” At a salary of $500 per month and a lack of maturity, I was fired after six weeks, but re-hired as a salesperson and afternoon drive announcer at the same pay plus ten percent commission.

I received no sales training, but was immediately successful. I didn’t know what I was doing right, so I began studying sales and success books. After increasing the station’s revenue, I was hired by KSAL Radio in Salina KS (40,000 population) and tripled my income.

After working in small towns for four years I found a job in Dallas at KLIF Radio and then WRR Radio selling advertising.

But I wanted to apply my learning in the success and sales field and wanted to get into the people development business.

I worked with a self-development company and built the top distributorship for seven years out of 500 nationally and number one in the world of over 5,000 offices.

Part of my success was developing a prospecting process that yielded over 400 referrals per month.

I then began speaking and developing programs and training for individuals and companies in the areas of Sales, Leadership, Goal Setting, Time Management, Communication Skills and Customer Service.

I wrote: “Sell When You See the Whites of Their Eyes” to show salespeople how to develop twice the income in half the time. Years ago, I couldn’t spell salesperson and today “I are one!”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I mentioned, I was fired from first job after six weeks.

I also didn’t handle my finances and receivables correctly and was told to file bankruptcy. Instead, I developed a system to slowly pay off every creditor over a period of nine years.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Professional Development Center and PlayMakers Talk Show – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

I now speak and facilitate internationally about the psychology of Professional Performance, Behavior Change, Productivity and Results.

I’m a frequent guest on Fox News Radio and began broadcasting “PlayMakers Talk Show” four years ago, and have interviewed over 400 CEOs and Executives about their success and the success of their company.

I’m a former volunteer for Adopt-a-School, and I work within school systems to motivate students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, a college-readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges. I served as president of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Dallas and he I’m currently on the Board of Directors for “Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer.”
