Meet Jason Priest of Dad Bod Health in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Priest.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m now in the greatest shape of my life but it hasn’t always been this way. Not long ago, I was 60 lbs overweight, had low energy levels, low back pain and specifically low confidence. I eventually became sick and tired of being sick and tired. I tried several fad diets including low carb and keto along with countless hours of cardio each week and those things just aren’t sustainable. I love burgers and beer and I wasn’t willing to give those things up so I decided to figure it out on my own. I got to work and used all of my knowledge and experience as a registered nurse, personal trainer, and fitness nutrition specialist and finally figured it out. But it was a tough road with many challenges along the way. I was always told I needed to avoid my favorite foods and exercise non-stop to get results. But after finally figuring out the perfect system to follow, I got REAL RESULTS. I went on to drop the weight, reduce my health risks and gain my confidence back. But the MOST IMPORTANT transformation I had was finally becoming an amazing role model for my son and being the leader of my family in every aspect. I believe every father has the moral and ethical responsibility and obligation to prioritize their health so they can be around to watch their kids grow up to pursue greatness. That is why I started Dad Bod Health. I wanted to show other men how simple it can be to get healthy so they too can be around long term for their children.

I spent six years working in ICU and a registered nurse. I was also a director of nursing at a long term care facility and then worked in corporate wellness for eight years prior to starting my business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I have faced many challenges along the way including figuring out a way to spend adequate time with my family, limiting poor business decisions and realizing that taking risks is a big part of owning a business.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dad Bod Health – what should we know?
My business helps men and Dads get healthy and reduce their health risks without giving up all their favorite foods. We believe food is one of the many joys of life and you shouldn’t have to give up all the foods you love in order to get healthy. We specialize in helping men redefine their Dad Bods so they can feel good again and keep up with their kids. We are known for helping men realize that changing your health habits and feeling good again doesn’t have to be a miserable process. We work with men to get healthy at their own pace while providing the support and accountability needed along the way. We have an online community called The MAN UP Community which gives members access to an amazing support group, a fantastic fitness app to track all of their progress and a value-loaded weekly newsletter. In the newsletter, we do fun things like celebrate our cheat meals and we also do monthly habit change challenges. I am most proud of our online community because it is awesome seeing men get healthy and feel good while having fun doing so.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have a mentor who has helped me tremendously and his name is Ryan Stewman. I also have to give a ton of credit to my wife for her support and contributions along the way. There are also several members of The MAN UP Community who are some of our biggest promoters because they feel so strongly about what we are doing.
