Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Neinast.
Shaun, please share your story with us.
Our toy store carries thousands of vintage toys from the 1960’s to the present day with a focus on toys from the 1960’s-90’s. While we specialize in several popular lines, we also carry a variety of lesser-known toys and collectibles as you can see from our large and diverse inventory.
I founded Dallas Vintage Toys in January of 2007. I collected toys for the past sixteen years and wanted to make the fantastic items that have been such a fun part of our lives since early childhood available again. This way I could share with many people the memories of Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Lego, and so many other toys that have influenced all of our lives.
Our goal is to keep our customers happy and to make collecting the fun experience it is supposed to be. We have dealt with all 50 states and from over 65 countries and territories for over two and a half years.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe my business has been a smooth road, because when you do something you love – you never work a day in your life. Working at a toy store is hard work though, but very rewarding. We get to meet lots of interesting people from all over the world. We have had several famous people come into the store. One time a band came into the store and I did not know anything about them, but all of the customers in the store knew them.
The person blogging/filming behind the camera; I told him I felt bad that I didn’t know who the band was. He gave us VIP tickets for their show that night and as it turned out the blogger was the lead guitarist. He had a double ax playing behind his back, it was awesome!
Dallas Vintage Toys – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dallas Vintage Toys is celebrating its tenth year in business this year. We specialize in action figures/toys from the 1970s to present day. Our top sellers are: Star Wars, GI Joe, Marvel/DC and Transformers. I am most proud of bringing people back that taste of nostalgia from when they were younger, connecting with customers/friends and having a great crew. We are known for having great items, lots of toys in stock and that we ship worldwide. What sets us apart from other stores is our knowledge in the toy industry, the toy vault and our competitive pricing.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I get to share my store with thousands of people and get to make friendships worldwide.
My son made his worldwide television debut at age two. I can’t wait to see what the future will hold.
