Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Reese.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kesha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in makeup started as a young girl. I grew up watching the women in my family not only wear makeup but sell it as well. When I was older I started watching YouTube videos and that’s when I became passionate about makeup and skincare. I became an esthetician because I wanted to understand and work with all skin types and tones. I believe that healthy skin is the best canvas. I am still perfecting my craft and I’m excited for the future.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The beauty industry is ever-changing and evolving. One of my main struggles was trying to do what everyone else was doing instead of finding my niche. While I do believe that being diverse is important, I had to find my specific lane. Marketing myself has also been a struggle. Getting your name out there is everything in this industry and I have honestly struggled with that.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a licensed esthetician and makeup artist. I am known for timeless, clean makeup looks. I specialize in looks that can easily transition from the boardroom to brunch with the girls. I am most proud of being a published artist. I believe that my intention sets me apart. I don’t just want to apply makeup and send a client on their way. I intend to build a relationship with each client. I want our session to leave you feeling confident in your beauty and comfortable in knowing your skin was properly cared for under the makeup.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel that the DFW area is a great place for a makeup business, but starting is tough. There are a ton of makeup artists here so I would recommend finding you’re demographic early on. I think that this magazine is doing one of the main things to improve the city for this industry. Interviewing local talent and giving them exposure is truly amazing.
