Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Caldwell.
Kimberly, before we jump into specific questions about your organization, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Jewel’s Comfort Keeper Inc. 501(c)(3) was birthed out of place of hurt. Tired of seeing loved ones come home from being incarcerated with No hope, No resources and a society that stigmatized them by a moment in their lives. That is where the vision was birthed to assist men with re-entry and effectively change the trajectory of their lives. By Transforming the stigma around men who have been incarcerated.
On June 24, 2019 (JCK) became a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization with the Internal Revenue Service. And from that day to current (JCK) has been hitting the ground running, in efforts of successfully assisting those we serve. (JCK) is dedicated to assisting men with obtaining the necessary support and charity from their community to ensure their success in their assimilation into their communities in which they are returning to.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Pursuing my purpose has been anything but easy, It has literally been blood, sweat and a lot of tears. I have faced various challenges and opposition during the start-up phase of establishing a non-profit. From obtaining funding sources, such as corporate sponsors, private/silent donors, etc. Nonprofit Organizations are not able to serve in excellence without the continuous support of the community. i.e. donations, grants, corporate/private sponsorships, financial, and volunteer assistance from our community partners.

As the Founder and Executive Director, I am most proud of (JCK) because our organization is less than a year old and we are bringing effective change to those we serve in our local community. Our Board is comprised of a group of compassionate, well-versed individuals.
What set (JCK) apart from others in the industry? Our ability to be hands-on with those we serve and seeing them through to a successful outcome one man at a time. At (JCK), we believe that there is strength in numbers. That is the reason we’re always seeking community partners and volunteers.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up as a child, I always cared for others and their well-being. So much so as an adult I have always worked service jobs. I am currently completing my (BSW), Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Texas Arlington, where I am being afforded countless opportunities to serve others. I find GREAT pleasure in lending a helping hand to those around me. I am known by those I serve as an “empath” or a “bleeding heart” and I’m fine with that because I realize my life is not my own it is how I serve others who are in need.
